Indianapolis Colts roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the Indianapolis Colts sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts added veteran signal-caller Philip Rivers after the Chargers let him walk. Jacoby Brissett filled the space left by Andrew Luck’s surprising departure last year, but Rivers should be an upgrade. Rivers’ veteran presence coupled with a strong overall team and coach, should keep the Colts in the playoff race.

Player News

High fantasy/betting impact

* T.Y. Hilton activated from NFI list, Malik Henry activated from Covid IR — August 12

The Colts welcomed back two receivers, including their most important. Hilton dealt with calf issues much of last season and looks to bounce back from his worst season as a pro.

* T.Y. Hilton started training camp on the NFI list, but says he is close to returning in a “couple days.” — Source — August 10

Hilton has a hamstring issue, but it doesn’t appear to be much, giving him time to be ready by the time the Colts start more work on the field. As always, Hilton has a ton of upside and should be more consistent with Rivers throwing him the ball.

* Frank Reich expects TE Trey Burton to have “a really productive year.” — Source — July 29

Burton will take over for TE Eric Ebron who went to the Steelers this offseason. The hype train could move his ADP up too high, but for now he remains a decent TE sleeper.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Activated Julian Blackmon — August 31
* Signed TE Dominique Dafney — August 26
* Activated TE Andrew Vollert — August 24
* Signed CB Andre Chachere and C Joey Hunt — August 23
* Signed DB Tavon Wilson — August 11
* Signed DT Taylor Stallworth — August 10
