NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs didn’t have much salary cap to work with this offseason, so made it a priority to keep the Super Bowl team intact instead of adding many free agents. That led to Patrick Mahomes’ record-setting contract. The Chiefs biggest addition likely came in the first round, when they drafted RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
Player News
High fantasy/betting impact
* Chiefs RB Darrel Williams will be Clyde Edwads-Helaire’s direct backup to start the season, per The Athletic’s Nate Taylor. — August 28
This knocks DeAndre Washington down and puts Williams in a good spot in a top offense.
* Running back Damien Williams opted out of the season. — July 29
Williams was a playoff hero last season, but will likely cede his role to the rookie Edwards-Helaire this year. Andy Reid usually wouldn’t play a rookie as the no-doubt starting running back, but he has a good chance of winning the majority of the touches as the class of the backfield.
Low fantasy/betting impact
* Signed C Daniel Kilgore — August 27
* Re-signed DT Braxton Hoyett — August 8
