Miami Dolphins roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the Miami Dolphins sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins stocked up in the 2020 draft, with the crown jewel being QB Tua Tagovailoa. Their rookie quarterback is the future of the franchise and should see plenty of work in the 2020 season. Otherwise, the team didn’t make many big splash moves, instead, they hoarded draft picks to kick-start their rebuild.

Player News

High fantasy/betting impact

* Tua Tagovailoa passed his physical and will practice without limitations — Source — July 29

Tagovailoa was expected to pass his physical, but it’s good to see it in writing. He will compete with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick to start Week 1, but will likely see starts sooner than later even if Fitz gets the nod.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Claimed RB Salvon Ahmed — August 26
* Signed DB Nate Holley — August 22
* Signed CB Deatrick Nichols — August 13
* Signed DT Brandin Bryant, claimed CB Breon Borders off waivers — August 12
* Claimed TE Nate Wieting off waivers — August 10

* Signed WR Chester Rogers to a one-year contract. — Source — August 9

After losing Albert Wilson and Allen Hurns to opt outs, the Dolphins added Rogers and Ricardo Louis to their receiving group. Rogers likely has the most upside of the two and will compete with Isaiah Ford for snaps.

* Traded for TE Adam Sheehan from the Chicago Bears for a late-round conditional draft pick.
