Baltimore Ravens roster updates from training camp

NFL training camp is underway and rosters will be pared down to the 53-player maximum. We’ll break down the moves as the Baltimore Ravens sort out their roster decisions.

NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens upgraded their defense and added another running back in the draft when they took J.K. Dobbins. The team already put up the most points in the NFL on the legs and arm of Lamar Jackson and they only made their team better this offseason. Getting by Kansas City will be tough, but they’re the Chiefs biggest roadblock to another championship.

Player News

High fantasy/betting impact

* Released safety Earl Thomas — August 23

Thomas’ loss downgrades the Ravens secondary. They are still a good unit, but normal injury trouble could knock them down quickly.

Low fantasy/betting impact

* Signed WR DeAndrew White and P Johnny Townsend — August 23
* Signed running back Kenjon Barner — August 12

The Ravens’ backfield is stacked with Mark Ingram, J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edward, and Justice Hill. Barner won’t get a chance to make an impact with this much talent ahead of him on the depth chart.

* Wide receiver Marquise Brown added 23 pounds this offseason. — source — August 5

Brown has now gone from 144 pounds as a freshman at Oklahoma to 157 pounds as a rookie and now to 180 pounds in his second year in the NFL. Brown says his speed did not take a hit, which if true, is the most important information. The extra muscle should help him in traffic, but we want him sprinting past the safety with Jackson hitting him in stride all the way to the end zone.
