NFL training camp is under way and that means news will start flowing from each team. How that news will be distributed in the time of Covid-19 restrictions is still to be seen, but news will get out one way or the other. We’ll take that news and give you our fantasy and betting analysis. And that news and analysis, including roster moves, injuries, all the way to hype videos, will be disseminated right here, on this very page for the Washington Football Team.
Washington ranked last in passing yards last season and tried out a few quarterbacks. Dwayne Haskins appears to be the front runner to start under center, but he could be challenged by Kyle Allen or Alex Smith in time. On the bright side, Terry McLaurin showed promise as one of the better up-and-coming wideouts in his rookie year. The running back position is questionable for now though.
Player News
High fantasy/betting impact
* Coach Ron Rivera names Dwayne Haskins starting QB. — September 3
This was inevitable, as Alex Smith isn’t fully back from his injuries and Kyle Allen isn’t good. Haskins gives the team their best shot at success.
* Released RB Derrius Guice — August 7
Guice’s brief career has been riddled with injuries, but he was still expected tp be in the running to be Washington’s Week 1 starter in 2020. Now it appears like Adrian Peterson will get the nod. While he led Washington in rushing yards in 2019, there’s no telling what he’ll bring to the table in his age 35 season.
Low fantasy/betting impact
* Activated QB Alex Smith off PUP list — August 16
This could become relevant in a hurry, but for now, Dwayne Haskins is Washington’s starter. We will move this to high impact if it looks like Smith is pushing him. Ron Rivera might decide Dwayne Haskins is not his guy, but for now, this is Haskins show and Smith will serve in a backup and mentoring capacity.
