Chargers coach Anthony Lynn told reporters Wednesday that Tyrod Taylor will be the starter. Lynn hasn’t moved from his belief in Taylor after seeing first-round pick Justin Herbert and Taylor in training camp.
The Chargers haven’t given Herbert any first-string snaps this training camp, so there really was never any doubt. And the fact that Herbert doesn’t look poised to take the job, shows us that Taylor could hold onto the starting job for much of the year. If the Chargers go on a losing spree, we’ll hear more rumblings, but the team does have a good defense and Taylor has won in the past.
Fantasy football analysis: Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor
Taylor set the Bills record for most rushing yards by a quarterback back in 2016 with 580 and almost equaled those numbers the next season with 568 despite playing just 14 games. We can’t count on Taylor to put up big passing numbers, but he doesn’t turn the ball over and picks up fantasy points with his legs. If you’re drafting a best ball team. he makes for a great last quarterback drafted for your team.
