The Arizona Cardinals closed out the 2020 season with an 8-8 record and just missed claiming the final playoff berth. Instead, they will hold the No. 16 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Kyler Murray took a statistical step forward from his rookie season, but the offense struggled to find consistency. Kliff Kingsbury came to the NFL as the latest offensive genius, and the team saw its total points improve year-over-year. However, there were numerous critical decisions that left observers scratching their heads. The team had a pair of two-game winning streaks and a three-game winning streak, but also had a pair of two-game losing streaks and a three-game losing streak.

The Cardinals defense could face some significant holes up the middle along the defensive interior and at inside linebacker. They could always use more cornerbacks as well. On offense, the team needs to upgrade at tight end and could use a significant upgrade in run blocking.

2021 opponents

The Cardinals will face their NFC West divisional opponents six times, half at home and half on the road. In addition, they draw matchups against all for teams from the AFC South and NFC North. The NFL is expected to add a 17th game to the regular season schedule that will feature an inter-conference matchup with a similarly placed team. The Cardinals would face the AFC North.
