Friday night update: In the final game on Saturday night, we should have great weather in Landover, MD. At kickoff, the temperature will be a balmy 36 degrees with clear skies. There is also no chance of precipitation with winds blowing at 6 mph NNW.
In the final wildcard game on Saturday, the No. 5 seed Tampa Bay Buccaneers will go on the road to take on the No. 4 seed Washington Football Team. There should be good weather for this playoff game on Saturday night. But it will be cold, which could makes things interesting for the Buccaneers.
Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady will likely not be fazed by the cold temps as he’s spent a majority of his career in New England, where it’s often cold and snowy.. The same can be said for Football Team Alex Smith, who should not have any issues with the weather on Saturday night.
Landover, Maryland Forecast: Saturday, 1/9, 8:15 ET
Temperature: 31 degrees
Wind: 4 mph
Precipitation: None, mostly clear
As of right now, there’s no signs of precipitation with little to no wind, which should bode well for the Buccaneers. They are a star-studded wide receiver corps and could be due for a big game against a fundamentally-sound Washington secondary. However, to slow down WFT’s pass rush, the Bucs might be better suited getting Ronald Jones II a good amount of carries.
WFT will likely lean on their running game too with temps falling below the freezing mark. With a physical and hard-hitting front seven in Tampa, head coach Ron Rivera might not want Smith dropping back multiple times.
Helpful weather resources include National Weather Service and Dark Sky, among others.
Check back before kickoff for updates on these weather situations.
