Urban Meyer has been rumored to be interested in an NFL job, and he’s taking another step in that direction. The former Ohio State and Florida coach is expected to meet with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday regarding the team’s vacant head coaching position, according to NFL Network.
The report noted the Jaguars have met with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy and Atlanta Falcons interim coach Raheem Morris. An interview with San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is expected to happen on Sunday.
Jacksonville fired Doug Marrone after going 1-15 this season, though the Jaguars secured the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft this spring, which makes this a decent job because whoever takes it likely gets to choose their own quarterback. Clemson Tigers quarterback Trevor Lawrence announced this week he is leaving college early for the draft, and he is likely the favorite to be drafted first overall.
Meyer won three national championships as a college football coach including two with the Florida Gators and one with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He has been working as a college football analyst for FOX.
