4th quarter update: This game has been unbelievable. Quarterback Josh Allen was strip-sacked and defensive end Josh Allen recovered the fumble. He has now picked and sacked Allen, and also recovered a fumble. I am comfortable saying this may never happen again in NFL history.

In the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, Jaguars defensive end Josh Allen sacked Bills quarterback Josh Allen. It is the first time in NFL history that a player with the same name as the opposing quarterback has recorded a sack.

The Bills came into today’s game against the Jaguars as 14-point favorites. But the Bills and Jaguars are tied up 6-6 at halftime. Jacksonville’s defense led by Allen has held the Bills’ offense in check (132 total yards of offense).
Allen, the defensive end, has six total tackles (team-high), two tackles for loss, a sack, and a quarterback hit. As for the quarterback Josh Allen, he has completed 13-of-21 passes for 90 yards and has a game-high 50 rushing yards. It’s only the second time that these two teams have played each other, but the first time for Allen and Allen. Jags’ Allen was drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, while the other Allen was drafted in 2018 with the seventh overall pick.
