With the 2020 NFL season wrapping up this Sunday, news of COVID-19 protocol violations have surfaced for the New Orleans Saints and notably star running back Alvin Kamara. The running back tested positive for COVID-19 before Week 17 and was unable to play in the Saints finale. But, the NFL has now obtained video of Kamara in the facility with a person not employed by the club who turned out to be positive, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
This latest violation would be the third for the Saints, triggering a punishment likely to be the biggest yet, per Pelissero. On top of this third violation, Kamara also refused to wear a contact tracing device mandated by the NFL, per Jeff Duncan. This caused internal issues all season according to Duncan.
Kamara’s positive test also put backup running back Latavius Murray, Dwayne Washington, and Mike Burton all on the Covid-19 list for that game. Fortunately for the Saints the NFL scheduled their Wild Card game as late as possible, giving Kamara just enough time to be cleared and play.
