The NFL announced the complete 2021 schedule on Wednesday, May 12, and the New York Jets are officially set to kick off their 2021 season on the road against the Carolina Panthers. It’s an exciting open to the team’s schedule, considering the Panthers recent trade with the Jets to acquire QB Sam Darnold. The Jets first divisional game will be at home against the New England Patriots in Week 2.

The Jets finished the 2020 season with a 2-14 record, but that was not enough to “earn” the first overall draft pick as their Week 16 victory gave the Jacksonville Jaguars the top selection. New York brought in former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to take over as he head coach. After trading Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, the franchise selected former BYU Cougars quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall pick. The Jets have to hope they finally landed a franchise quarterback, but they will need much more than that as they revamp this roster to try to return to being competitive.

All times listed are Eastern.
