The Cleveland Browns have agreed to a three-year, $36.6 million contract extension with RB Nick Chubb, per Adam Schefter. Chubb will make $20 million in guaranteed money. He had been coming off his four-year rookie contract heading into the 2021 NFL season. Now the Browns don’t need to worry about Chubb’s contract situation heading into a huge season for the franchise.

Chubb has been one of the best backs in the League over the past three seasons since being selected in the second round in 2018. He’s racked up at least 1,000 rushing yards in back-to-back seasons and has 20 rushing TDs over that span. In his career, Chubb has 3,557 rushing yards and 28 TDs over three seasons.

Chubb had more of an impact in the passing game back in 2019, when he had 36 receptions for 278 yards with no TDs. Last season, Chubb ceded most of the passing game work to RB Kareem Hunt. The Browns are expected to roll with the same two-man attack in the backfield with Hunt and Chubb in 2021. Cleveland is clearly going to have a run-oriented offense, so Chubb should continue to get the early down work and goal line carries, making him a solid RB1 for fantasy football.

DK Nation NFL Editor Chet Gresham has Chubb ranked No. 8 overall in his non-PPR rankings for the 2021 fantasy football season. CMC, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, Saquan Barkley and Alvin Kamara are the RBs ahead of Chubb. If you’re able to snag Chubb toward the back-end of your standard FF draft, you’ll be in a good spot heading into the season.
