The Miami Dolphins are hoping Tua Tagovailoa can become the franchise quarterback they desperately need to compete in the AFC East. Tagovailoa was less than stellar in the team’s opening preseason game and hoped to turn things around in Week 2.
Tua Tagovailoa Week 2 preseason stats
16/23, 183 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
Analysis
After struggling to get going in Week 1, Tagovailoa unleashed the ball in Week 2. He had a few good throws to RB Myles Gaskin out of the backfield, but also displayed his downfield ability with passes to TE Mike Gesicki and WR Jaylen Waddle.

This was a superb performance from the quarterback, showing he can be the focal point of a potent aerial attack.
Fantasy implications
Tagovailoa is likely being held in fantasy leagues as a backup option with upside. If he continues to play like this he can be a viable starter, especially against poor passing defenses. It’ll still take some time before Tagovailoa can be trusted every week, but owners can know the volume appears to be there. The Dolphins will also have Will Fuller in action after Week 1, so Tagovailoa will get another major weapon.
