The 2021 NHL Expansion Draft is set to air Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. ET. The Seattle Kraken will be selecting one player from each of 30 of the 31 NHL rosters to fill out much of their roster in advance of Friday’s league-wide rookie draft. The Expansion Draft will air on ESPN2.
If you aren’t around a TV to check out the draft, you can stream it via WatchESPN or the ESPN app if you have cable log-in. If you don’t have a cable log-in, you can get a free trial from YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, AT&T TV Now, FuboTV, or Sling TV to stream the draft.
The Kraken must select a minimum of 14 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goalies from the 30 teams. The Vegas Golden Knights are exempt from this year’s expansion draft due to a deal they cut as part of their entry into the league in 2017. Each team submitted a protected list over the weekend that included either 7 forwards, 3 defensemen and 1 goalie, or 8 skaters (forwards/defensemen) and 1 goalie.
