The 2021 Summer Olympics have arrived. Amidst uncertainty due to COVID-19, Tokyo is set to host what were originally the 2020 Summer Games. The event was postponed a year due to the pandemic, and it appears set to get underway late Wednesday morning in Japan.
We have a huge time difference between Japan and the four time zones of the United States, so American fans are going to have to make some significant adjustments to their sleep schedules if they want to watch the Games live. NBC will be offering both live and tape delayed coverage, but given how easy it is for events to be spoiled on the Internet, some folks are going to be setting their alarms for the middle of the night.
We’ll do our best throughout the Olympics to eliminate any confusion regarding event times, but just in case, feel free to refer back to our guide here to make sure you don’t miss out on your favorite event due to confusion about the time.
Japan to Mountain Standard Time differences
*Please note that Japan Standard Time is 15 hours ahead of Mountain Standard Time. Ex: If it is Thursday morning at 2:00 a.m. in Tokyo, it is Wednesday afternoon at 11:00 a.m. in the Mountain time zone.
