The United States and Japan were the co-favorites to win the gold medal at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo. The two teams finished at the top of the table after preliminary play, and will face off for the gold medal on Tuesday morning. The final game is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET and will air on NBC Sports Network live and again at 2:30 p.m.

The USA was 5-0 in pool play, and will take on the Japan team they defeated 2-1 in their final preliminary game on Tuesday. A walkoff home run from Kelsey Stewart was the first long ball for the United States in the tournament, and with the victory they’ll be the home team in the rematch for the gold medal.

The Americans may have struggled at the plate, but in the circle they’ve been simply dominant. Monica Abbott, Cat Osterman, and Ally Carda have combined to concede only two runs in 36 innings in Tokyo so far.
