Which men’s soccer teams have qualified for 2021 Tokyo Olympics medal round bracket

We’re tracking each men’s soccer team that advances out of the group stage at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

The 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics are through the first week, and the men’s soccer tournament is fast approaching the medal rounds. Group play is wrapping up on Wednesday, July 28th and halfway through the medal round bracket is finalizing.

The 16 men’s teams were divided into four groups of four. Eight teams qualify for the knockout stage, with the top two teams in each group advancing. The quarterfinals are scheduled for Saturday, July 31 and the semifinals Tuesday, August 3. The bronze medal match is scheduled for Friday, August 6 and the gold medal match will take place the next day.

Brazil — July 28

Brazil beat Saudi Arabia 3-1 in the group finale to claim first place with two wins and a draw. They’ll face the runner-up in Group C.

Ivory Coast — July 28

Ivory Coast finished group play with a win and two draws. They went scoreless with Brazil and then tied Germany 1-1 to secure a berth in the quarterfinals. They’ll face the winner of Group C.

South Korea — July 28

South Korea beat Honduras in its group finale and secured first place in the group after New Zealand could only manage a tie with Honduras. South Korea will face the runner-up in Group A.

New Zealand — July 28

New Zealand beat South Korea but could not get a goal against Romania in the group finale and settled for second place. They got the tiebreaker over Romania due to goal differential. New Zealand will face the winner of Group A.
