In the final track and field event on Friday night, the men’s 4x100-meter relay was under the microscope. Heading into the last race on Day 14 of the Summer Olympics, Jamaica was the favorites to come away with the gold. The Jamaican men relay won their Round 1 heat with a time of 37.82.
But Jamaica was not able to carry over their performance from first round heat into the final as the gold medal went to Italy. Italy won the gold medal by a tenth of a second in a photo finish over Great Britain.
What an epic final leg by Filippo Tortu! He made up at least 7 yards in that one leg. Incredible!!! Italy are the 4x100m champions... pic.twitter.com/zZsdAUgHJL— Ashish Magotra (@clutchplay) August 6, 2021
