Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for October 7

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Wednesday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

It’s another wild weather Wednesday on the DraftKings Dream Stream with a full schedule of six weather-impacted games starting at 12:00 p.m. ET. Each of the simulated games on tap have both paid and free DraftKings single-game Showdown contests in addition to being part of the three-game classic contests that kick off at 12:00 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. ET. The focus of this post is the 6:00 p.m. ET featured slate which starts with an NFC South matchup between the Falcons and the Panthers, who already met once in these sims and will also meet this weekend in real life. That game will be impacted by rain. At 8:00 p.m. ET, we have another sim-rematch as the Patriots take on the Cowboys in snowy virtual Foxboro. The final sim of the day features the Texans visiting the 49ers in the rain at 10:00 p.m. ET in another rematch of a recent sim game.

The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the depth charts, abilities and X-factors for Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. The rosters have also been adjusted to get the best players on the field and will not be impacted by any COVID-19 opt-outs or injuries.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, $7,500 — Ryan has been excellent throughout these Madden 21 sims and led the Falcons to the victory in our Madden 21 tournament before the season. He has an impressive 32 touchdown passes in his 14 games while averaging 269 passing yards per sim. He has been very consistent with over 19 DKFP in four straight sims and 8-of-12 overall. One of those strong performances came against the Panthers, who he had three touchdowns and 21.36 DKFP against the first time he faced them. Ryan has thrown multiple touchdown passes in nine of his past 10 sims and continues to shine, working well with his elite pass-catching options. The Falcons’ defense is letting him down in real life, but Matty Ice has still put together good numbers both in the real world and in simland.

Other Options — Deshaun Watson ($7,400), Dak Prescott ($7,300)

Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $6,600 — The best value play is on the other side of that same matchup, and Bridgewater will look to post a solid game against the Falcons’ questionable defense. In his most recent sim, Bridgewater ran for a touchdown and threw for a score as well, leading the Panthers past the Bucs with 23.82 DKFP. He has multiple touchdowns in three straight sims and has raised his average to 18.3 DKFP per contest. While his totals and consistency aren’t at Ryan’s level, he does offer significant savings and solid upside in this favorable matchup against the Falcons, who he posted 22.88 DKFP against in their first sim meeting.

Other Option — Cam Newton ($6,800)

Running Back

Raheem Mostert, San Francisco 49ers vs. Houston Texans, $7,700 — Mostert is battling a knee issue in real life but has been enjoying healthy production in these sims. He has 14 touchdowns in his 11 sims and has at least 15 DKFP in eight straight contests. He has shown a very high ceiling with over 25 DKFP three times during that stretch, highlighted by a massive 39-DKFP performance against the Ravens. His most recent sim was also against the Texans, and he finished with 80 yards, a touchdown and 15.4 DKFP. He should be able to outpace those numbers in this rematch, since the rain usually forces the 49ers to rely even more heavily on their running game.

Other Options — Ezekiel Elliott ($7,900), Christian McCaffrey ($7,600)

James White, New England Patriots vs. Dallas Cowboys, $4,600 — White shares the Madden 21 backfield in New England with Sony Michel ($4,700), but I think White’s the slightly better play due to his potential PPR production. He has caught three passes in each of his past three sims and scored a touchdown in his matchup before that. Over those four games, he is averaging a solid 7.4 DKFP per sim and is a low-risk play on a slate where there isn’t much value at the RB spot.

Other Option — David Johnson ($5,300), Duke Johnson ($3,600)

Wide Receiver

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, $8,400 — Jones has been a monster in Madden 21 sims, averaging 5.8 catches for 100.5 yards and 23.1 DKFP per sim. He has scored 13 touchdowns in 14 sims, including five over his past four games. He had “only” 19.6 DKFP against the Giants in his most recent sim after posting over 29 DKFP in three straight. In his first game against Carolina, he had five catches for 50 yards, two touchdowns and 22 DKFP. Jones has at least six catches in five straight contests should be set up for another big game if he keeps absorbing so many targets.

Other Option — Amari Cooper ($6,800), DJ Moore ($5,900)

N’Keal Harry, New England Patriots vs. Dallas Cowboys, $5,400 — Harry is the Patriots’ WR1 in Madden 21 and has been a steady producer with good upside in his 13 sims so far. He has averaged 3.8 catches for 47.5 yards per game and found the end zone eight times. He had 21.1 DKFP against Dallas in the first sim meeting between these teams and has over 20 DKFP in three of his past five games. His volume and red zone attention from Cam Newton should help him excel once again in this rematch with the Cowboys.

Randall Cobb, Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers, $3,500 — Oftentimes in the rain, QBs focus on shorter passes to slot receivers, TEs and RBs. If that’s the case for the Texans against the 49ers, Cobb should stay involved and offer a nice return on his very affordable investment. Cobb has at least four catches in four of his past five games, including his most recent sim, which was also against the 49ers. He had four catches for 48 yards and 8.8 DKFP in that contest. He only has one touchdown on the sim season, but his volume of work makes him a solid cheap play under $4K.

Other Options — Calvin Ridley ($5,800), Robby Anderson ($3,900)

Tight End

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers vs. Houston Texans, $6,200 — Kittle has been a very frequent target in the 49ers’ passing game in Madden 21, and he is averaging 4.1 catches for 56.8 yards per game. He has found the end zone three times in his past four games and posted over 100 yards in one of those contests as well. He just beat the Texans for a touchdown and 12.7 DKFP in their recent meeting and should find space to attack Houston’s defense again in this rematch. The rain will likely force the 49ers to play to their strengths with Kittle and Mostert carrying the workload against the Texans.

Other Options— Blake Jarwin ($4,500), Hayden Hurst ($4,400)

Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $3,700 — Thomas hasn’t been very involved in the Panthers’ passing attack in real life, but he has been a very nice value play in Madden 21. Thomas has multiple catches in each of his 10 sims, averaging 3.7 catches for 34.9 yards per sim. He has found the end zone twice, so there is potential for a touchdown, but mostly he’s worth a look since he is a very cheap way to get a high-floor option against a team with a poor pass defense.

Other Options— Darren Fells ($4,300), Devin Asiasi ($4,200)

Patriots DST vs. Dallas Cowboys, $3,100 — The Patriots in the snow at home should be a good matchup to target as they take on the Cowboys, who have been prone to fumble issues at times in these sims. New England has forced 16 turnovers in their 13 sims along with 18 sacks and three defensive touchdowns. They have averaged 5.7 DKFP overall and a slightly better 6.6 DKFP at home. I think the weather and matchup make them the top DST on the board if salary is not a limiting factor.

49ers DST vs. Houston Texans, $2,600 — The 49ers haven’t created a ton of turnovers or made big plays as regularly as would be expected, given the talent on the defensive side of the ball and high ratings across the board. They did have a big game against Houston in their most recent game with four sacks, a fumble recovery and 7.0 DKFP, and they should be primed to produce in the rematch as well, especially given the rainy weather. They’re the cheapest DST on the board but still have attractive upside.
