Fantasy Football Picks: Top DraftKings NFL DFS Running Backs, RB Touch and Target Projections for Week 14

Reid Fowler gives you his top DraftKings fantasy football picks at running back for Week 14 along with their touch and target projections.

Week 13 is in the books, and so are some of your season-long teams. If you didn’t make your league’s playoffs, don’t fret because there’s way more season to go in the NFL on DraftKings, and it starts with anchoring your lineups for Week 14 this week with some studs and value plays at running back. Last week, David Montgomery ($6,500) claimed the top spot, scoring twice and racking up 27.1 DKFP. Dalvin Cook ($9,400) had 38 total opportunities last week but failed to score on multiple occasions. Still, his volume was massive, and he may need the same type of game going up against the most formidable defense against running backs this week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Aaron Jones ($7,600) and James Robinson ($7,500) finished third and fourth at the RB position last week and are priced as the fourth and fifth most expensive running backs on the slate. Christian McCaffrey ($9,200) may return this week, but reports earlier this week mentioned he suffered a quad injury at practice, which puts his Week 14 status in question.

Here are the running backs we should be targeting on DraftKings, along with their opportunity projections this week.

Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars, $8,700

RB royalty, Derrick Henry, was a big disappointment last week, finishing as RB36. The game script played into his underutilization but has a get-right spot against a Jacksonville defense that may still be recovering from last week’s overtime game with the Minnesota Vikings. Henry has arguably the best schedule over the next few weeks, and the Jaguars, who are 16th in yards before contact, just allowed Dalvin Cook to finish as the RB2 overall last week. In the nine games Henry has played against Jacksonville, he’s averaged 17.6 attempts per game and scored nine times. The Jaguars’ defense held Cook to 3.2 yards per carry, which is good, but this is the same team that has given up the third-most attempts and eighth-most targets to opposing backfields this season. The Jaguars did hold Henry to 84 rushing yards in Week 2, but Henry also rushed for 159 yards on 19 carries, scoring twice in Week 11 last season against them. Henry’s 55 percent snap share shouldn’t scare us off, especially knowing he’ll be good to go against a defense that may be a little fatigued.

Rushing: 26 attempts

Receiving: 2 Targets; 2 Receptions

Total: 28 Touches

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions, $7,600

Suppose Aaron Jones’ ($7,600) roster percentage doesn’t inflate this week. Would he be someone you’re interested in rostering? I would, especially in GPPs. The Detriot Lions have given up the league’s highest PPR points per game to opposing running backs this season. Jones dominated this matchup earlier in the year, rushing for 168 yards on 18 carries, scoring twice on the ground. He also caught four balls on eight targets for 68 yards and a score. He led all players that week in DK scoring at 48.6 points. Another option in this range is workhorse back David Montgomery ($6,500), going up against the Houston Texans, who give up the second-most DKFP to opposing running backs this season (32.8).

Rushing: 16 Attempts

Receiving: 5 Targets; 4 Receptions

Total: 20 Touches

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts at Las Vegas Raiders, $5,800

Over his last three games played, Taylor ranks as RB17 in DKFP among all running backs during this timeframe. What’s pointing the proverbial arrow in his direction is the matchup. The Raiders give up the fifth-most DKFP to running backs and have the second-highest total in missed tackles this season (102). Taylor has forced nine missed tackles in his last two games, the same amount he had in weeks 1-10, per

Rushing: 16 Attempts

Receiving: 3 Targets; 2 Receptions

Total: 18 Touches

Kenyan Drake, Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants, $5,500

Drake’s ceiling has been relatively low all season, with both Kyler Murray ($7,200) and Chase Edmonds ($4,600) both siphoning off rushing production. With Kyler’s shoulder injury, Drake has seen 16 total red zone rushing opportunities over the last three weeks, which is higher than Alvin Kamara ($7,100), Josh Jacobs ($6,300) and Aaron Jones. Edmonds did have a higher snap share last week, but this is Drake’s backfield, especially when he’s getting all the red zone work. The Giants’ defense only gives up 80.5 rushing yards per game but gives up the most targets, second-most receptions and most receiving yards to running backs this season.

Rushing: 17 Attempts

Receiving: 4 Targets; 3 Receptions

Total: 20 Touches
