Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for December 19

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Saturday’s two-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 12:00 p.m. ET.

The NFL is ready for a fun Saturday doubleheader, but before that kicks off, the Madden Holiday Season has a doubleheader of its own ready to roll with a pair of sims on the DraftKings Dream Stream. The divisional round is just about wrapped up with the playoffs set to start on Monday. To see who has advanced and which teams have already been eliminated, check out the current standings. You can also check out all the stat leaders from the season so far and the special offers from featured contests on the main Holiday Season page.

The two Saturday games are a pair of NFC matchups, starting with the Carolina Panthers hosting the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta won the Madden 21 tournament before the season started, but both the Falcons and Panthers have already been eliminated from the Holiday Season after starting 0-2 against the Saints and Bucs. The second game does have playoff seeding implications as the Seattle Seahawks look to stay undefeated and punch their ticket to the next round against the 0-2 Los Angeles Rams. Seattle will advance to the next round win or lose, along with the winner of Monday’s game between the Cardinals and 49ers.

As usual, remember that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. Quarterback

Stud

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams, $7,800 — Even though this game has the potential to be a low-scoring contest with two solid defenses, Wilson is too good a play at QB to pass up. He has been one of the best QB options in all of Madden due to his dual-threat production and he is averaging an impressive 25.0 DKFP per sim over his 28 contests in Madden 21. Wilson had a big game against Arizona in his most recent sim, throwing for 224 yards and three touchdowns while adding 99 yards on the ground. He fell just one yard short of the 100-yard rushing bonus which he has been able to reach in four of his past eight games. Wilson had 20.68 DKFP in his only previous matchup with the Rams and has produced over 20 DKFP in 19 of his 28 contests (68%). Not only is he very consistent, but he also has a high ceiling, which he showed with 40.9 DKFP a few sims ago against the Lions. He comes with a big salary but is definitely the best QB to build around if his salary isn’t an obstacle.

Other Option — Matt Ryan ($6,900)

Value

Teddy Bridgewater, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $5,200 — If you want to go cheap at QB and pay up at other positions, Bridgewater is the best option and saves a ton of salary. He did have a good performance in his most recent game against the Falcons, throwing for 282 yards and three touchdowns on his way to 22.28 DKFP. Bridgewater is averaging 212.3 passing yards per contest and has thrown 37 touchdowns in 26 contests. He is in a favorable matchup against the Falcons’ defense, which typically allows big plays in the passing game, and if he provides anywhere near Wilson’s total, he’ll be a high-risk play that allows you to stack stars in other spots.

Other Option — Jared Goff ($6,300)

Running Back

Stud

Todd Gurley II, Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, $6,900 — Despite his team’s 0-2 record, Gurley has been exceptional during the Madden Holiday Season with 22.9 DKFP against the Bucs and an even more impressive 34.3 DKFP against the Saints in his most recent sim. Gurley only ran for 45 yards in that game but was very involved as a pass-catcher with 10 receptions and 108 yards through the air. In his 32 sims in Madden 21, Gurley has averaged 4.6 catches for 40 yards per game through the air and scored 10 of his 23 touchdowns as a receiver. The dual-threat RB had 34.9 DKFP in his first matchup with the Panthers in Madden 21, although he was held in check in the rematch. Since he’s fully healthy in simland, Gurley is an excellent play at RB and can contribute PPR points even if he isn’t finding space on the ground.

Other Option — Christian McCaffrey ($7,800)

Value

Malcolm Brown, Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks, $3,900 — The Rams are the only team on this limited slate that uses a timeshare in the backfield, with Brown leading the way as the RB1 and Darrell Henderson Jr. ($6,000) serving as the third-down back and preferred option in passing formations. Henderson is so expensive, though, that he is high-risk at his salary. Brown hasn’t been quite as productive but did have 14.4 DKFP in his first meeting with Seattle. He had a touchdown and 8.7 DKFP in his most recent sim and would be a great value if he reaches that number again. He has scored 10 touchdowns in his 27 games and is the only way to get any production from the bottom part of the RB salary structure on this slate.

Other Options — Darrell Henderson Jr. ($6,000), Chris Carson ($5,200)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, $6,200 — Jones has posted over 20 DKFP in all three of his sims against the Panthers, going off for 29 DKFP, 20.5 DKFP and 22 DKFP. He has slowed down a little bit lately and only has over 20 DKFP in two of his 10 most recent sims, but this is a “get right” matchup for him against the Panthers’ secondary. In his 32 Madden sims, Jones has still scored 19 touchdowns while averaging 5.0 catches for 82.3 yards per sim and he has a very high ceiling in this matchup.

Other Options — Robert Woods ($5,700)

Value

Josh Reynolds, Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks, $4,800 — Like in real life, the Rams spend most of their time in Madden in three-WR sets, meaning lots of snaps, targets and opportunities for Reynolds. He has multiple catches in nine straight games and 17 of his past 18. In his most recent sim, he had five catches for 82 yards and 13.2 DKFP against the 49ers, giving him three straight sims with over a dozen DKFP. He had a touchdown and 12.3 DKFP in his first matchup with Seattle and will be a good play under $5K if he’s around that level of production in the rematch.

Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers, $3,800 — Gage is the Falcons’ WR3 and primary slot option in these sims. He had just one catch against the Saints in his most recent sim, but he had at least three catches in five straight games before that, highlighted by 18.7 DKFP against the Jaguars. He had at least four catches in each of his three previous matchups against the Panthers as well, so he should be a great value on this slate under $4K.

Other Options — DK Metcalf ($5,500), Phillip Dorsett II ($4,000)

Tight End

Stud

Greg Olsen, Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams, $4,300 — Olsen has been a go-to option in the passing game for Wilson and the Seahawks throughout these sims, averaging 4.0 catches for 42.1 yards per game while finding the end zone 10 times. Olsen had two touchdowns and 15.6 DKFP against the Rams when he faced them before, and he is the top play at TE on this limited slate.

Value

Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers vs. Atlanta Falcons, $3,200 — Thomas is extremely affordable at barely over $3K, but he has been relatively active in the passing game for the Panthers. The Panthers’ top TE has hauled in at least three catches in 13 of his most recent 14 sims. He doesn’t usually pile up a ton of yards but his PPR contributions make him one of the few plays near $3K at any position that is reliable for fantasy point production in just about every game.

DST

Stud

Seahawks DST vs. Los Angeles Rams, $3,100 — The Seahawks have been the most productive DST in the Holiday Season with 7.0 DKFP against the 49ers and 14 DKFP against the Cardinals. In their most recent game, they piled up six sacks and had a pair of fumble recoveries against Arizona. Seattle also had a good game in their first contest against the Rams, producing 9.0 DKFP with four sacks and a defensive touchdown. Seattle has averaged 7.3 DKFP in its 28 sims and has forced an impressive 30 fumbles in 28 games, mostly due to the hard-hitting tandem of Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams.

Value

Falcons DST at Carolina Panthers, $2,900 — The Falcons are a solid pivot if you are passing on the Seahawks. They have a high ceiling, which they showed with 18 DKFP against the Lions in a recent sim, and they haven’t posted negative fantasy points in any of their 32 sims in Madden 21. In those 32 sims, the Falcons have 21 takeaways and 69 sacks, and they have averaged 5.2 DKFP per sim.
