We ran the table last week, going 3-0 with my underdog picks. That provided a big boost to my season record, which now stands at 21-23-1. With only two weeks left in the regular season, I’ll try to build some momentum with three more underdogs to consider for Week 16. All odds were obtained from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Another week, another win for the Packers. They defeated the Panthers on Saturday, marking their fourth straight victory and their sixth over their last seven contests. However, they haven’t exactly been tested. None of the six teams that they defeated have winning records. Their only loss during that seven-game stretch came against a tough opponent in the Colts.
The Packers will face another daunting foe here in the Titans, who have won four of their last five games. That included defeats of the Ravens and Colts. They have been road underdogs two times this season and covered the spread in both contests. Meanwhile, the Packers are 6-5 against the spread as favorites this season, including 4-3 ATS as a home favorite. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Titans win this game, so give me the points.
Washington still finds themselves in the driver’s seat for the NFC East despite a 6-8 record. They snapped a four-game winning streak last week, falling at the hands of the Seahawks by a score of 20-15. They did so with Dwayne Haskins at quarterback after Alex Smith (calf) was unable to take the field. If not for a couple of costly turnovers by Haskins, Washington might have actually pulled off the upset.
The good news for Washington is that Smith might return for this contest. Make no mistake about it, he’d be an upgrade over Haskins if he can play. However, the Panthers have performed well on the road from a betting perspective, going 6-1 ATS as road underdogs. This game has the looks of being a tossup, so taking a chance on the Panthers could prove to be profitable.
Nothing like placing a wager on two bad teams to try and spice up your viewing experience. Both the Broncos and the Chargers have been downright dreadful with a combined record of 10-18. The Broncos were destroyed by the Bills last week and the Chargers have needed two straight wins just to improve their record to 5-9. Both wins came by three points each and were even less convincing when you consider one was against the Falcons. The other win was against the Raiders, who lost Derek Carr to an injury early in the contest.
When these two teams met earlier this season, the Broncos won by one point. This game being played in Los Angeles might not be good news for the Chargers since they are 3-4 ATS at home. On the other side of things, the Broncos are 5-2 ATS as road underdogs. With a real possibility that the Broncos win this game, going with the points is very appealing.
