NFL Week 13 Odds: Line Movement, DraftKings Sportsbook Football Betting Analysis

Matt Meiselman gives football betting analysis and insight for Week 13 of the NFL, including line movement and betting splits.

Week 13’s NFL slate has some games with significant playoff implications, but there are also quite a few with large points spreads. Eight of the games this week have a spread of a touchdown or more and the four NFC East teams are involved in half of them. All four of those teams are sizable underdogs, though Week 13 actually seems to be a week where DraftKings bettors are more inclined to take the points.

Sunday Line Movement Update

  • The Jets reached +9 earlier in the week but have come back down to +8, and it looks to be trending lower too. This could at least be in part due to Josh Jacobs’ absence from today’s game.
  • Falcons betting continued through the weekend and they’ve now crossed a key number (3) from +3.5 to +2.5.
  • The Titans moved from -4 to -6 earlier in the week, but things have swung back towards the Browns and the spread is down to 4 once again.
  • The Chargers opened at +1 this week, but they’re now up to -2 even though it looks like Cam Newton will be on the field for the Patriots this week.

Betting Splits Breakdown

It’s an odd week for DraftKings Sportsbook bettors, who may be reacting to a Week 12 in which most of the favorites won outright but didn’t cover the spread. For Week 13, there are several underdogs who are getting nearly half or even more than half of the betting action, most notably starting with the Jaguars. The Jaguars played a decent game in Week 12 and only lost to the Browns by two, while the Vikings barely managed a home victory against the Panthers. DraftKings Sportsbook bettors are looking for more of the same in Week 13, backing the Jaguars to the tune of about 60% — both in terms of bets and handle — to cover the 10-point spread.

The Bengals are getting some attention as a large underdog against the Dolphins, as is the Washington Football Team going into Pittsburgh against the Steelers. The Steelers didn’t look particularly good in Wednesday’s game against the Ravens, and the short week seems to be giving DraftKings Sportsbook bettors more confidence in Washington. The Steelers are actually only getting 29% of the handle for this game so far, which is extremely rare for a touchdown-favorite.

How the Lines are Moving

A lot of this week’s line movement is bound to be up in the air until Sunday, as injury reports continue to keep many of the betting lines in flux. The biggest impending status update for this weekend is probably Cam Newton, who is listed questionable as of Friday afternoon. Updates will be available here Sunday morning, as usual, so check back in then to see the latest DraftKings Sportsbook betting insights.
