Greg Ehrenberg preps you for Friday’s 8 p.m. ET Madden Stream contest between the Eagles and Packers with game-script analysis and Captain’s Picks.

We’re all in need of some entertainment during these times of the unknown. DraftKings is doing its part by offering Madden simulations with a variety of teams going at it. For this piece, we’ll focus on the Eagles-Packers game that will take place at 8 p.m. ET Friday.

Philadelphia Eagles

My favorite choice for the Captain’s spot in this game is Miles Sanders ($10,800 CP/$7,200). One of the best running backs in our Madden simulations and potentially one of the best running backs in real fantasy football next season, Sanders has been doing everything for the Eagles. He’s involved in the passing game, running game and even has returned a couple of kickoffs for touchdowns. Sanders has rushed for 2,717 yards and caught 89 passes, leading to an average of 15.7 DKFP. He’s perpetually underpriced and commonly one of the top values whenever the Eagles are in a showdown contest. Sanders also draws a nice matchup against a weak Packers run defense.

Carson Wentz ($11,000) is the overall top fantasy producer in this game. His salary is lofty, although I do think he’s a stronger option in this contest than Aaron Rodgers ($11,400). Comparing the quarterbacks, Wentz is cheaper and averages 0.4 more DKFP per game. Since Sanders gets so much work in the passing game, it’s viable to stack Wentz with the running back. Sanders has 667 receiving yards and six receiving scores, so we could see the two combine for a touchdown.

Of the Eagles’ receivers, Alshon Jeffery ($9,600) is the highest-rated and averages the most DKFP. Jeffery has an 85 overall rating and is scoring 13.0 DKFP. For his price, he doesn’t stand out as a great play. This is especially true when considering that the Packers have a better pass defense than run defense. Instead, I would rather go cheaper at receiver and roster Nelson Agholor ($4,800). At half the price of Jeffery, Agholor averages 10.9 DKFP, making him a much better per dollar play.

One more strong option to consider from the Eagles is Zach Ertz ($8,200). The Pro Bowl tight end averages 14.2 DKFP and he has a 90 overall rating. By a wide margin, Ertz has been the top option in the Eagles’ passing game. Getting constant targets from Wentz, Ertz has hauled in 191 passes for 2,342 yards.

Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers ($11,400) is the better quarterback in this game with an 89 overall rating, but I don’t think he’s the stronger play at the position. He averages 17.1 DKFP to the 17.4 DKFP average for Allen. The issue I have with Rodgers is the price tag. This is a really lofty price tag and playing Rodgers could make it tough to fill the rest of our lineup with quality players. Rodgers isn’t an outright fade, although I wouldn’t play him in the Captain spot or go out of my way to jam him into a lineup.

If spending up for a wide receiver, I think Davante Adams ($10,400) is a better play than Alshon Jeffery ($9,600). Adams averages 16.7 DKFP and is one of the best receivers in Madden. Adams has a 94 overall rating and has a slightly easier matchup than Jeffery. Overall, Adams has 2,942 receiving yards and should eclipse 3,000 yards tonight. He’s scored at least 21 DKFP in four of his past eight games.

Aaron Jones ($8,800) is not one of the starting running backs performing well in Madden. Jones is averaging just 7.0 DKFP and has rushed for 35 or fewer yards in five of the Packers’ past seven sims. He barely outscores his backup, Jamaal Williams ($2,600), who is averaging 5.5 DKFP. From what we have seen, focusing on the Packers’ passing game makes more sense than targeting the running game. Jones is one of the most overpriced players in this game and there shouldn’t be much risk to fading him. He’s been held under 2.0 DKFP in four of his last seven games.

On the cheaper end, Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($5,400) looks like a decent midrange play. MVS is only a 73 and is always at a rating disadvantage when the Packers play. Despite this fact, he’s one of the top fantasy producers on the team, averaging 11.8 DKFP. He’s coming off a game where he scored 37.7 DKFP against the Patriots. We can also consider rostering Geronimo Allison ($2,000), who I consider a top value play in this game since he is averaging 8.2 DKFP at nearly min price. Allison is always a player I like to roster when we have a showdown contest involving the Packers.

Even though both of these teams have been losing games recently, the Packers’ losses are more reasonable since they have played an extremely tough schedule. Green Bay’s recent games have been played against teams like the Patriots, Chiefs, 49ers, Ravens and Saints. Even the losses suffered by the Packers have been competitive games. The Eagles have lost eight of the past 12 games and many of these games were against teams that missed the playoffs last year. On paper, the advantage in this game goes to the Packers.

Final Score: Packers 24, Eagles 20
