Cardiff will face a resurgent Fulham team in the EFL Championship semifinals on Monday. We take a look back at the teams’ respective seasons with some picks to consider for DraftKings’ soccer Showdown contest.

Set your lineup here: EFL Champ $35K Semi-Final Showdown [$10K to 1st] (CAR vs FUL)

Aleksandar Mitrovic ($18,600)

Mitrovic finished the regular season as the Championship’s top scorer with 26 goals, with four of those coming from the penalty spot. He even scored in each of Fulham’s games against Cardiff this season. Of the past six games in which he has scored a goal, Mitrovic opened the scoring in five of them. Another impressive stat here: he has 53% of his shots on target. Overall, a real sound choice for Captain.

Others to consider: Lee Tomlin ($15,000)

High-priced flex options

Lee Tomlin ($10,000)

Cardiff hasn’t scored a lot of goals this season, but Tomlin has led the team in goals with eight. He is ranked 47th in the goal-scoring charts for the 2019-20 season. That’s how Cardiff’s offense stacks up usually. However, there is a school of thought that suggests picking the best offensive player from a team, even if there is low chance of scoring.

Neeskens Kebano ($9,200)

Kebano doesn’t have a massive body of work behind him this season. However, his recent form is quite compelling. He scored a goal in a 1-1 draw against Wigan on the final day of the Championship. He occupies a vital attacking midfield position on the left wing. He has scored three goals this season and he should continue to get the start.

Joe Ralls ($8,200)

Ralls is the playmaker for Cardiff and is usually positioned just behind the attacking midfielders on the left flank in Cardiff’s 4-2-3-1 formation. He is tasked with setting up the offense with accuracy. He has even scored seven goals this season, indicative of his willingness to move forward and convert chances into offensive contributions. He has averaged 11.3 DKFP per game, highest for Cardiff.

Others to consider: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing ($7,800)

Value flex options

David Junior Hoilett ($7,000)

Hoilett, the Canadian midfielder, has also had a solid season this year. He scored seven goals for Cardiff in an otherwise barren goal-scoring season for the team despite its defensive efficiency. In terms of recent form, he scored in the last game of the regular season, a 3-0 win against Hull, before he was taken off the pitch in the second half with the game done.

Anthony Knockaert ($6,800)

Here is an underrated player. In Fulham’s 4-2-3-1 formation, he plays on the right wing in an aggressive midfield position. Although he has scored just three goals this season he has added 10.1 DKFP per game, an extremely high fantasy output for a price as low as $6,800. This should be a strong value-for-money choice if you need it.

Others to consider: Marek Rodak ($6,400)
