Since the NBA is currently on hiatus, DraftKings is running NBA simulations that give DFS basketball players a chance to keep their skills sharp and show off their knowledge. On Wednesday, the Pacers take on the Jazz, and the action gets underway at 3 p.m. ET.

Indiana Pacers

One glaring omission here is Victor Oladipo. He isn’t out of the player pool because he opted out of playing in Orlando, but due to his knee injury and late start to the season, he hasn’t played the 15 games needed to qualify for the NBA sims. He came close, but Dipo has only played in 13 games. If not for some rest games and soreness, he would have been in the player pool. Due to the amount of time Oladipo has missed, Malcolm Brogdon ($7,400) has stepped up and had a solid season. He’s averaging 34.35 DKFP, making him a solid play at his price point.

The top fantasy player in this game is Domantas Sabonis ($15,000 CP/$10,000). Without a real fantasy star in this game, his average of 44.14 DKFP makes him my favorite choice for the Captain’s slot. Not only does Sabonis have a high ceiling, his floor is very safe as well. He’s only scored under 30 DKFP four times all season.

One of the odder priced players from Indy is Doug McDermott ($6,000). Averaging 16.26 DKFP, he’s one of the least productive fantasy players in the Pacers’ rotation, yet he’s the fifth most expensive player on the team. Everybody priced around him is a far better fantasy player. For just $400 more, Myles Turner ($6,400) nearly scores twice as many DKFP per game as McDermott with an average of 27.96 DKFP.

On the cheaper end, there is reason to look at Aaron Holiday ($4,200) as a play. His role has fluctuated this year, and when he has been in the starting lineup, he’s had a good amount of fantasy success. Due to various injuries for Indiana, Holiday has made 26 starts and averages 25.12 DKFP in that role. Unfortunately, he’s only started about half of his games this season. This is where the risk comes in since he only averages 14.62 DKFP in a reserve role. If we draw a game from Holiday was a starter, he will probably be a top value option in this game.

Utah Jazz

For some reason, Donovan Mitchell ($11,200) is always more expensive than Rudy Gobert ($10,600) in NBA sims. Since nothing matters other than past production this season, there isn’t much of a case to be made that Mitchell should be more expensive. He averages 38.38 DKFP while Gobert averages 40.06 DKFP per game. Gobert is the stronger play of the two Utah stars, although Mitchell isn’t a total fade since there aren’t many decent plays to pay up for. With that said, Mitchell is the lowest priority play out of himself, Gobert and Sabonis.

One other player from this side of the game that I think we can fade is Bojan Bogdanovic ($9,000). Bogdanovic has been solid and averages 30.05 DKFP, but the problem is that rostering him likely comes at the opportunity cost of playing one of the All-Stars priced above him. While not quite as pricey, Jordan Clarkson ($6,600) is another player I am looking to avoid since his production has been up and down due to him playing a reserve role and limited minutes.

A risky play from the Jazz with upside is Mike Conley ($5,600). Due to leg injuries, he’s played limited minutes at times, although he’s been stellar during the time he’s been in the starting lineup. As the starting point guard for Utah, Conley is averaging 28.14 DKFP. As long as we get one of the games where he starts, he is almost certainly going to pay off his price tag. On the flip side, Conley is going to bust if we draw a game where he came off the bench and was restricted.
