Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets: Game Result
With obvious games on the board like the Bucks and Lakers both trying to close out as double-digit favorites, I don’t think it’s worth attempting to be contrarian with a Magic or Blazers outright pick. However, the Thunder have now gained momentum in this series, coming back from a 2-0 hole to tie the series up 2-2. This is a crucial Game 5 to swing the series, and the public perception is that James Harden will lead the Rockets to a bounce-back. Let’s not forget what Chris Paul is capable of. Give me the underdog.

Nikola Vucevic Points (O/U 26.5)
Vuce has been handling the Bucks in this series, averaging 29.5 PPG. He’s scored 31 or more points in three of the four games thus far, so 26.5 feels low. The game he scored just 20 points in was pretty lopsided out of the gate, although he did see his usual 36 minutes. Either way, this number has shown a better chance of going over so far in this series, and Orlando will feed its best player in a do-or-die game.
Pick: Over 26.5
LeBron James Points (O/U 29.5)
LeBron began the series as a facilitator, scoring 23 in Game 1, and then just 10 in a Game 2 rout. He’s been dominating since, with 38 and 30 points in Games 3 and 4 respectively, but this is a unique spot. First, we have clear blowout concerns, which could lead to a result like we saw in Game 2. Second, LeBron could wind up using this game, which the Lakers should control from start to finish, to boost his teammates’ confidence heading into the next round.

I like being contrarian here again and rolling with the Thunder. This just goes to the narrative that the Bucks and Lakers win in blowouts, and maybe their studs don’t even see the floor in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, the Thunder and Rockets have a close point spread in a crucial game. Give me the guys that need it more in this spot and throw the stats out the window.
