Game Notes

Biggest Moneyline Favorite

Carolina Panthers (+350) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-420; -9.5)

We have a lot of HUGE favorites in Week 2 and it’s hard not to like them all. The Buccaneers, as I write this Wednesday night, are the biggest at -420, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. This is a really poor Panthers secondary and should allow Tom Brady ($6,500) to have his way with them. Against Derek Carr in Week 1, while he only had 239 passing yards, he completed 22-of-30 pass attempts. Rookie CB Troy Pride Jr. didn’t exactly have a friendly debut, as he allowed all six targets to be caught for 106 yards and 17.7 YPR. Primarily lining up on the left side, that could lead to a great spot for Scotty Miller ($4,100) at a cheap salary. In all, the Bucs look as if they should steamroll over the Panthers, which would be great from both a fantasy and betting perspective.

Other notable favorites: Tennessee Titans (-375; -9) vs. Jaguars (+310), Kansas City Chiefs (-375; -8.5) vs. Chargers

Highest Projected Total

Atlanta Falcons (23.5 points) at Dallas Cowboys (27.5 points; -4.5) 52.5 points

As I write this Thursday afternoon, we have two games with a projected total over 50 points according to DraftKings Sportsbook, with the Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans being the other at 51.5.

The Cowboys are the favorites in this one and get to face a secondary that allowed 322 passing yards and four touchdowns to Russell Wilson in Week 1. In particular, CB Isaiah Oliver and A.J. Terrell were roasted by the Seahawks’ offense, allowing a combined 12 receptions on 14 targets for 186 yards and two touchdowns. This bodes well for Amari Cooper ($6,300) and Michael Gallup ($5,600), who should see them primarily. Dak Prescott ($6,800) wasn’t shy about throwing the ball in Week 1 with 39 attempts and a 64.1% completion rate. With the Falcons allowing the most points to opposing quarterbacks in Week 1 at at 34.8, Prescott and company are in a great spot to put up some points and that fantasy goodness.

Lineup Starters

Quarterback to build around

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions, $6,900 — Rodgers blew up in Week 1 against the Vikings, carving them up for 364 passing yards, four touchdowns and 33.76 DKFP. After seeing a $600 increase in his salary, he now has the luxury of facing another poor secondary in the Lions. Last week, they allowed Mitch Trubisky ($5,500) to go 20-of-36 with 242 passing yards and three touchdowns. Trubisky! Despite the bump in his salary, this Lions team got nearly no pressure on Trubisky last week, pressuring him on only 11 of his 40 dropbacks. Last season with a clean pocket, Rodgers had a 70% completion rate with an average of 7.6 yards per pass attempt and 23 of his total 30 touchdowns.

Wide Receiver To Pair Him With

Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions, $8,100 — It’s not hard to want to play the receiver that just pulled down 14 of his 17 targets for 156 yards and two touchdowns. I mean, why wouldn’t you? Regardless, pairing him with Rodgers really isn’t all that difficult as it leaves you with an average of $5,000 for the remaining spots on your roster. Toss in a cheap D/ST like the Giants ($2,400) against the Bears and we’re back to $5,433 average per roster spot. In coverage, Adams will see a good amount of Amani Oruwariye, who allowed an average of 17 YPR in Week 1 and 11.8 over the course of 2019. Not that anyone can cover Adams to begin with but the plus matchup helps.

Top Running Back To Consider

Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys vs. Atlanta Falcons, $8,200 — With the Cowboys as favorites and a high scoring game projected, this is a huge spot for Elliott. While we like to focus on attacking the Falcons through the air, they just allowed three touchdowns to the Seahawks’ running backs in Week 1. Two came through the air while one was on the ground. We’ve already seen the Cowboys getting Elliott more involved through the air as he caught three of his four targets for 31 yards. This is a great spot for Cowboys overall and especially their RB1.
