Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for September 19

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Saturday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

After a few days of limited slates due to Thursday Night Football and the Fantasy Baseball World Championship on the DraftKings Dream Stream, Saturday is stacked with a full six-game slate of Madden sims. For each simulated game, there are single-game Showdown contests available in addition to a pair of three-game classic slates. For this post, we’ll focus on the featured three-game classic slate that kicks off at 6 p.m. ET with a preview of the Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 2 between the Seahawks and the Patriots. Following that nice matchup, the Chiefs will visit virtual Green Bay to take on the Packers at 8 p.m. ET and the Ravens face the Saints in the late game at 10 p.m. ET.

The roster for each team has been updated to include player movement before Week 1 of this season, so make sure to take a look at the new depth charts, abilities and X-factors for Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. The rosters have also been adjusted to get the best players on the field and will not be impacted by any COVID-19 opt-outs or injuries.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints, $8,200 — While he was sometimes inconsistent in Madden 2020 sims, Jackson has been nothing but excellent since the upgrade to Madden 21, which makes sense since he is the cover athlete of the new game. He has averaged 86 rushing yards per game in his six sims and hit the 100-yard rushing bonus twice while adding two rushing scores to his nine passing touchdowns. He had over 20 DKFP in each of his first five sims before a “down” game in which he still posted 18.16 DKFP. His running production always gives him both a high ceiling and low risk since he will almost always find a way to put up big points. The Saints’ defense has some playmakers but has also been a little hit-or-miss, and you can’t miss even a little against Jackson without him turning it into a big play. I think he’s set up for success at the virtual Superdome on Saturday’s slate.

Other Option — Russell Wilson ($7,400), Patrick Mahomes ($7,200)

Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs, $6,700 — Rodgers and the Packers just knocked off Jackson in their most recent sim and have been very effective offensively in Madden 21. Rodgers has already thrown for over 1,700 yards and 14 touchdowns in just seven sims, averaging 243.1 passing yards and 19.2 DKFP per contest. Rodgers doesn’t add the rushing element as much as Jackson does but has thrown multiple touchdown passes in all but one of his seven sims and reached 20 DKFP five times in that seven-game stretch. The Chiefs’ defense has been decent in these sims but they have still shown a tendency to get involved in some back-and-forth offense-focused games. There’s upside for Rodgers if that’s the script this sim plays out and he has a great ceiling for a QB option under $7K.

Other Option — Cam Newton ($5,800)

Running Back

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints vs. Baltimore Ravens, $7,500 — Kamara has been locked in, putting up great numbers both as a rusher and a receiver in his eight Madden 21 sims. He has eight touchdowns in those eight contests and is averaging 70.8 rushing yards and 4.1 catches for 32.3 receiving yards per game. He has produced an average of 21.2 DKFP per contest with over 18 DKFP in all but one of those eight sims. Baltimore’s defense will definitely present a challenge for Kamara but Aaron Jones ($6,100) just had 19.0 DKFP against the Ravens in their most recent sim, showing a good statline is still in play for the Saints’ superstar RB.

Other Options — Aaron Jones ($6,100), Chris Carson ($5,700)

J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints, $3,400 — In the most recent roster update, Dobbins was inserted as the third-down back and power back for the Ravens. The move yielded instant results with the rookie posting 12.2 DKFP in his first matchup in the new roles. Dobbins had 24 yards and a touchdown on the ground while catching one pass for 28 yards. His 91 speed rating, 88 toughness rating and 86 change of direction rating make him a tough player to tackle when he has the ball in his hands and help compensate for his low awareness rating. He should remain involved in Baltimore’s run-heavy attack, so look for Dobbins to be a great value on this slate.

Other Options — Sony Michel ($5,400), James White ($4,400)

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers, $7,300 — Hill remains the only player in Madden with a perfect 99 speed rating and his game-breaking speed has led to plenty of long touchdowns throughout these Madden sims. In his nine sims in Madden 21, he has gotten incredibly high volume, averaging 6.4 catches for 89.8 yards per contest and scoring a total of six touchdowns. Hill had eight catches for 87 yards and 24.7 DKFP in his most recent sim and has over 22 DKFP in five of his nine sims. The Packers do have an X-factor CB in Jaire Alexander but I’ll still go with Hill’s speed and upside since the volume coming his way is so high.

Other Options — Michael Thomas ($6,800), Davante Adams ($6,600)

Devin Funchess, Green Bay Packers vs. Kansas City Chiefs, $5,100 — Funchess returned to make his debut for his new team in the Packers’ most recent sim after all the opt-out players were added back into the mix. He stepped in as the WR2 and looked like an early favorite of Rodgers, catching seven passes for 72 yards and 14.2 DKFP. He’ll serve in that role again as Green Bay takes on the Chiefs, so I love his upside especially since that strong production came without the benefit of a touchdown. If he finds the end zone and remains so involved, he has an incredibly high ceiling.

Demarcus Robinson, Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers, $3,600 — Robinson has been involved in every one of the Chiefs’ nine sims and brings solid upside for a WR3. He has averaged 2.5 catches for 35.8 yards per game, but the important reason to consider him is his consistent involvement, while most of the other WRs under $4K come with much higher bust potential. Robinson’s best game in Madden 21 was a six-catch performance that came along with his one touchdown for 18.7 DKFP against the Patriots. With decent upside and consistent involvement, he’s my favorite play under $4K at WR.

Other Options — Emmanuel Sanders ($4,600), Miles Boykin ($4,100)

Tight End

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs at Green Bay Packers, $6,100 — You would think with Hill getting so much work and Robinson consistently involved that Kelce might get left out or at least be limited in his involvement in the Chiefs’ offense but the opposite has actually been the case. Kelce is averaging an amazing seven catches per sim for 80.1 yards per game and has scored five touchdowns. He has over 18 DKFP in six of his past seven contests and has found the end zone in four of his past five. He could get even more work if Alexander manages to slow down Hill at all. Kelce always seems to find ways to come up with big catches when they matter most and almost always posts a solid final statline as well.

Other Option— Jared Cook ($5,300), Devin Asiasi ($4,700)

Greg Olsen, Seattle Seahawks at New England Patriots, $4,200 — Olsen has stepped into a very involved role for Seattle in these Madden 21 sims, catching over four passes per game and scoring a pair of touchdowns in six contests. Olsen has at least four catches in four straight sims and has 9.9 DKFP or more in four of six overall. He doesn’t have nearly the ceiling that Kelce brings but he is a solid value option that can save you salary to spend up in other spots if you are going big at QB, RB and WR.

Other Option— Mark Andrews ($3,900)

Ravens DST at New Orleans Saints, $3,100 — Normally taking on the Saints isn’t a great situation for a DST but the Ravens have been so good in Madden 21 that it’s worth looking past the matchup. Baltimore has piled up 20 sacks in their six sims and produced an average of 8.3 DKFP even though they have only forced one turnover. Calais Campbell has solidified both the pass rush and the run defense, making the Ravens an elite DST both because of their big-play potential and their ability to allow very few points.

Other Option— Patriots ($3,200)

Seahawks DST at New England Patriots, $2,800 — No defense has been as good as the Seahawks in Madden 21. Their big-hitting tandem of Bobby Wagner and Jamal Adams has made them a takeaway machine. In their six sims, the Seahawks have recovered 10 fumbles and scored two defensive touchdowns while piling up 15 sacks and a safety on their way to an average of 10.2 DKFP per contest. Seattle had an amazing five takeaways in their most recent sim and the Seahawks’ DST posted 26 DKFP against the Texans in a 31-3 win. While they won’t hit that ceiling every contest, the upside is definitely there with such highly-rated players.
