Tennis Best Bets: US Open Predictions to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for September 4

Kenny Ducey gives his best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday’s tennis betting card.

Tennis: Rogers Cup Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

We’re on to the third round of the US Open, and the matches continue to get tighter and tighter. Two days ago, the only worthwhile bets were on matches involving players towards the bottom of the top 100. Now, as the quarters come towards a close, we have some matches that will require popcorn. I’ve picked out the four matches I see the most value in on DraftKings Sportsbook.

DraftKings users can get in on the action by betting on DraftKings Sportsbook or by downloading the DK Sportsbook app.

Filip Krajinovic vs. David Goffin

Filip Krajinovic ML (-175)

If you followed the Western & Southern Open last week, you’d be quite familiar with Krajinovic, who looked like he could go on and win the whole thing. He was on point, destroying Dominic Thiem early on and making use of the baseline game that earned him a win over Novak Djokovic in a Serbian exhibition months ago. Krajinovic has always had top 20 talent — and the ability to put a great player on upset watch — and it seemed last week he was finally putting it all together. This may be the best Krajinovic we have ever seen.

On the other side of things, David Goffin has really struggled hard in the last two weeks; he probably wouldn’t have survived Reilly Opelka if not for Opelka’s injured knee, and he played Lloyd Harris too close for comfort. Judging by his recent form, and the fact he’ll have to adjust to playing a totally different opponent than two servebots in Opelka and Harris, I think Krajinovic prevails here and runs out to the quarterfinal.

Denis Shapovalov vs. Taylor Fritz

Taylor Fritz ML (+120), Over 40.5 (-120)

Shapovalov has been walking on eggshells for the past couple weeks, seemingly reverting back to the form he was in prior to the US Open last year. Taylor Fritz, on the other hand, has been in great form, looking dangerous during the stoppage in World Team Tennis, and in his early matches in New York. I do not expect Shapo to roll over Fritz here, and I think we are in for a fun five-set match. The American should prevail, but not without facing some adversity.

Jennifer Brady vs. Caroline Garcia

Jennifer Brady -3.5 (-139)

Brady’s return game was on fire against Bellis, generating a total of 14 break points, and she managed to drop just three games all match despite making just 55% of her first serves. Brady has come out looking slimmer and stronger than ever after the shutdown, and her serve has been hard to break. I think Garcia is getting a bit too much respect here after her shocking upset of Karolina Pliskova, and I think she has a difficult time holding just as she did against a pretty weak returner in Pliskova.

Cameron Norrie vs. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina

Davidovich Fokina +1.5 Sets (-125)

Both of these guys have been absolute beasts in New York, with Norrie fighting back to take out the perennial US Open threat Diego Schwartzman in round one and ADF beating the talented Hubert Hurkacz on Wednesday. I see this one as really even, and think it will go five. With this bet, you’re banking on ADF taking two sets, which he should absolutely do. Both have shown an incredible amount of resiliency, and I expect whoever drops the first set to rally and win the next one or two. I’d give the slight edge to ADF in this one, which is why I like this bet in particular; the odds are great and it’s safer than taking the moneyline. If you’re feeling dangerous, though, take ADF at +148.
