Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for September 6

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Sunday’s two-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The first round of the playoffs in the DraftKings Madden 21 Tournament wraps up on Sunday with the four games from the NFC. After the divisional play-in round the top eight teams in each conference advanced, setting up four great matchups on Sunday. The final two of those matchups are on the main classic slate kicking off at 6 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET. We begin the main slate with the surprising No. 7-seeded Washington Football Team visiting the undefeated No. 2-seeded Saints. The No. 1 seed went to the undefeated Packers, who will host the 49ers in a rematch of the NFC Championship in the primetime slot. Winners will advance to Monday’s quarterfinals when both conferences will be reseeded.

You can see the standings and results throughout the tournament here on Playbook and keep up with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page, where you can also find the new depth charts and X-factors for the teams in Madden 21.

Aaron Rodgers, GB vs. SF, $7,200 — After having Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson on Saturday’s slate, Sunday’s slate seems to be lacking in top-end QB play, although Rodgers has been very good in these sims. The “Gambler” X-factor keeps him from throwing picks and he has thrown six touchdowns in his three Madden 21 sims. He had 293 yards and two scores against the Vikings in his most recent contest, producing 22.22 DKFP. He has a tough matchup with the solid 49ers DST but San Francisco went just 1-2 in their play-in round and doesn’t look nearly as dominant as they were in Madden 2020. Rodgers will look to continue their struggles and power his top-seeded Packers to the next round Sunday night.

Other Option — Drew Brees ($6,600)

Dwayne Haskins Jr., WAS at NO, $5,700 — Haskins has actually outscored each QB on this slate with the exception of Rodgers, producing an average of 15.3 DKFP in his three sims. He threw for 313 yards and a pair of touchdowns against the Giants on his way to 22.42 DKFP in the game that vaulted Washington into the playoffs. Haskins has a tough matchup against the Saints but may have to air it out to try and keep up with the Saints in the Superdome. He’s boom-or-bust but comes with nice upside at an extremely affordable salary.

Other Option — Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,100)

Running Back

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. WAS, $7,900 — Kamara has been on a whole different level than the rest of the RBs in Madden 21 and has been thriving with his increased workload. He ran for 100 yards in each of his first two sims in the play-in round, producing 30.4 DKFP against Carolina and 32.2 DKFP against the Bucs. Kamara then finished off his big start with just 51 yards on the ground but eight catches for 67 yards to help him post 19.8 DKFP against the Falcons. Kamara’s versatility gives him multiple ways he can go off and he should do the same against Washington in this favorable matchup. He has been one of the standout performers in the Madden 21 tournament to this point and will look to keep his run going in the playoffs.

Other Option — Aaron Jones ($7,000)

Raheem Mostert, SF at GB, $5,800 — Mostert has been given the RB1 duties in Madden 21 for the 49ers and so far he has produced pretty solid numbers. He had a touchdown and 61 yards on the ground in addition to six catches for 43 more yards against the Cardinals, resulting in a total of 24.4 DKFP. He struggled in his two sims since then with just 5.0 and 11.1 DKFP in the 49ers’ two losses but he remains the go-to back with good blocking and a solid role in the receiving game as well. Look for Mostert to be the focus of the offense again and he could find some space against the Packers, who just gave up a good game to Dalvin Cook in their most recent sim.

Other Options — J.D. McKissic ($4,100)

Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas, NO vs. WAS, $7,600 — Washington’s secondary doesn’t have elite options or great depth, so Thomas should have a decided advantage in every matchup he has all over the field on Sunday. He had double-digit DFKP in each of his first three Madden 21 sims and capped off the play-in round with 26 DKFP on six catches for 80 yards and a pair of scores against Atlanta. Thomas is the only WR with a perfect 99 overall rating and should get plenty of attention from Brees in this matchup, which is heavily tilted his direction.

Other Options — Davante Adams ($7,500), Allen Lazard ($6,000)

Steven Sims Jr., WAS AT NO, $4,800 — In Madden 2020, Washington’s WR2 was Paul Richardson Jr., who ended up being one of the best regular value plays throughout Washington’s 51 sims. His role and his reliability seem to have transferred to Sims in Madden 21, who has been a beast in his three games since moving up the depth chart. Sims has over 15 DKFP in each of his three games and has caught a total of 19 passes for 251 yards and two scores. He had 141 yards in his most recent sim against the Giants and will need to be very involved again if Washington hopes to pull off the big upset in the Big Easy.

Other Options — Emmanuel Sanders ($4,300), Kendrick Bourne ($3,700)

Tight End

George Kittle, SF at GB, $6,300 — Kittle’s rankings in Madden 21 set him up for plenty of success and he finally put together a big game in San Francisco’s most recent sim, a loss to the Seahawks. He only had two catches and just over 20 yards in each of his first two sims in Madden 21 but he stormed back with five catches for 128 yards, a touchdown and 26.8 DKFP in that game against Seattle. For San Francisco to keep up with the Packers, Kittle will need to get heavy targets once again, especially with shutdown CB Jaire Alexander locking up the WRs outside. Kittle has a very high ceiling, although he hasn’t been the most reliable option in Madden 21.

Other Option — Jared Cook ($4,700)

Jeremy Sprinkle, WAS at NO, $3,800 — Madden 21 has definitely been Sprinkle time! The TE has stepped into Jordan Reed’s role in the playbook very effectively, catching 12 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown over his first three sims for a solid average of 11.6 DKFP per contest. He had a season-high 19.8 DKFP in his most recent sim when he got that touchdown and can definitely be a factor in the red zone and over the middle for Haskins, who I think will have to throw a lot due to game flow.

Packers DST vs. SF, $3,300 — Even though I like some of the 49ers as individual plays, the Green Bay defense is the best option on this side of the ball. The unit has been outstanding with six sacks, four defensive fumble recoveries and a pair of defensive touchdowns in its three sims. Alexander is the key to a strong secondary, while the run defense and pass rush have also been very effective, limiting their opponents to an average of just 11.3 points per game.

Other Option — Washington ($3,200)

Saints DST vs. WAS, $3,000 — Cam Jordan leads this strong group that has allowed just 12.7 points per game and piled up five sacks. They have yet to force a turnover but do have a favorable contest against Washington and Haskins. If Haskins is more bust than boom, the Saints’ DST could capitalize and turn in a big game.
