Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for September 7

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Monday’s two-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Monday Night Football is just a week away and will wrap up what should be a great Week 1 in just seven days. If you’re looking for a football fix sooner, check out the quarterfinals of the DraftKings Madden 21 Tournament this Monday night as the two NFC matchups provide us four teams for the main slate, kicking off at 6 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. ET. The top three seeds all advanced on Sunday with the only upset being the No. 5 Falcons knocking off the Seahawks. Atlanta will travel to virtual Green Bay to face the top-seeded Packers in the 8 p.m. ET contest in the second game on this slate after a great matchup between the Cowboys and Saints at 6 p.m. ET. Both teams come into that contest 4-0 in their four sims but only one can stay undefeated and advance to tomorrow’s semifinals.

You can see the standings and results throughout the tournament here on Playbook and keep up with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page, where you can also find the new depth charts and X-factors for the teams in Madden 21.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Dak Prescott, DAL at NO, $6,800 — Of the four NFC QBs remaining, Prescott has the best rushing-related ratings and has provided the most production on the ground. He ran for a score and threw for two more along with 228 passing yards on his way to 24.02 DKFP. He has over 21 DKFP in three of his four sims in Madden 21 and he and the Cowboys will need to bring the best version of their offense as they try to knock off the Saints in the Superdome. Prescott’s rushing potential gives him a higher ceiling and a higher floor than any other QB on this slate.

Other Option — Aaron Rodgers ($7,200)

Matt Ryan, ATL at GB, $6,200 — Ryan has a very tough matchup against the Packers’ DST ($3,200), which has been an elite unit in these sims. However, Matty Ice has looked pretty elite himself, throwing for seven touchdowns and over 1,000 yards in his four games. He only had 7.64 DKFP against the Seahawks in Atlanta’s win on Sunday which definitely hurt his overall average but I think he should have a bounce-back performance as he and the Falcons try to keep up with the Packers’ offense, which has shown it can put up points in a hurry in Madden 21.

Other Option — Drew Brees ($6,500)

Running Back

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. DAL, $7,300 — Kamara has four scores in four sims and has produced over 18 DKFP in each of those contests. He had over 30 DKFP in his first two games in Madden 21 against the Panthers and Bucs and followed that with 19.8 DKFP against the Falcons and 18.8 DKFP against Washington. He only had 55 rushing yards in Sunday’s win over Washington but did get into the end zone and remained involved as a pass-catcher with four receptions for 33 yards. His involvement as a receiver out of the backfield is why I give him the slight edge over Ezekiel Elliott ($6,900) as the two top backs go head-to-head.

Other Options — Ezekiel Elliott ($6,900), Aaron Jones ($6,500)

Todd Gurley II, ATL at GB, $5,600 — There aren’t any super-cheap RBs who are regularly involved enough to be worth taking a flier on from these four teams, who rely very heavily on their RB1s. Gurley has seemed fully healthy in Madden 21 and has scored five touchdowns in his past three sims, producing 34.9 DKFP, 34.2 DKFP and 14.1 DKFP. He had the Falcons’ only score in their low-scoring upset of the Seahawks and also has shown he can catch passes out of the backfield with eight catches for 90 yards in the Falcons’ loss to the Saints in the divisional round. Since I think Atlanta may have to throw a lot against Green Bay, I think Gurley could be heavily utilized again as a receiver out of the backfield, which is why I like him at this salary under $6K.

Other Option — Latavius Murray ($3,700)

Wide Receiver

Michael Thomas, NO vs. DAL, $7,100 — While Dallas has a very solid defense, the Cowboys don’t have an elite shutdown CB which should put Thomas in a good spot to have favorable matchups. Thomas has the only 99 overall rating handed out to a WR in Madden 21 and has bounced back after a quiet opener to the tournament. He has over 18 DKFP in each of his three games since then and has scored three touchdowns in his past two games while producing 80 and 81 yards. He is New Orleans’ best advantage in their matchup with Dallas, so look for them to feed their star WR the ball early and often. I think a monster game is definitely a possibility for him in this quarterfinal matchup.

Other Options — Amari Cooper ($6,700), Allen Lazard ($6,200)

Michael Gallup, DAL at NO, $3,800 — Gallup has scored three touchdowns in his first four sims in Madden 21 after being mostly a non-factor in Madden 2020. He hauled in four catches for 100 yards and a score to post a tournament-high 23 DKFP against the Vikings. He has that kind of upside against the Saints as well but the best news for him has been his red-zone involvement which gives him a nice ceiling for a play under $4K.

Other Options — Calvin Ridley ($4,400), Emmanuel Sanders ($4,100)

Tight End

Hayden Hurst, ATL at GB, $4,900 — At least in Madden 21, Hurst has fit right in with the Falcons and formed a quick connection with Matt Ryan. He has 19 catches for 273 yards and a touchdown in his four sims with the Falcons and has posted over 12 DKFP in three of those four games. He fell just one yard short of the 100-yard bonus against the Saints and followed that up with 12.3 DKFP against the Seahawks in his first game in the playoffs of the Madden 21 tournament.

Other Option — Blake Jarwin ($5,400)

Jared Cook, NO vs. DAL, $4,700 — Cook has been boom-or-bust to this point in his Madden 21 sims but has a much higher ceiling than any other value play as the Saints’ top TE. Cook showed that upside with five catches for 62 yards against the Falcons two sims ago but then posted just 2.9 DKFP against Washington on Sunday. The Saints seem to rely more heavily on Kamara than Cook for short passes but Cook could sneak free for a few big gains if the Packers focus on shutting down that outlet option for Brees.

Packers DST vs. ATL, $3,200 — None of these defenses have an easy matchup but of the group, the Packers have shown the most consistent upside. They have a shutdown corner in X-factor Superstar Jaire Alexander and a strong front seven that provides both a good pass rush and a strong run defense. Even though the Falcons have put up points, I think the Packers’ DST is worth paying for if you can.

Falcons DST at GB, $2,700 — On the other side of the late game, Atlanta’s DST has also been pretty solid. The Falcons have forced four turnovers and piled up a dozen sacks in four contests, averaging 6.3 DKFP per sim. The only big risk with playing the Falcons is that they have a very tough matchup against a Packers offense that has been one of the best in the Madden 21 streams.
