Steve Buchanan gives his top offenses to target for Monday’s six-game DraftKings MLB slate, which locks at 6:05 p.m. ET.

A bit of an early start on Monday, as tonight’s six-game slate locks at 6:05 p.m. ET instead of the traditional 7:05. This is going to be a fairly tough slate to stack on as we have a very good pool of pitchers to choose from. Don’t you fret, we still have options to pick from and I’ll try to give a couple of off the wall ideas to steer you away from the field.

As always, you can reach me on the ol’ Twitter machine @SBuchanan24.

1. Toronto Blue Jays

Great spot for the Jays despite only sporting a 4.5 team total. I not only think they can hit the over on that but can do the damage early against Jordan Montgomery ($6,400). He’s not going deep into games, has allowed five home runs through six starts and has a 4.71 FIP over that span. The issue with him not going deep is that the Yankees’ bullpen has been used heavily as of late, throwing 21 23 IP (13th) with a 6.29 FIP (3rd), a 2.08 HR/9 (6th) and an 11 BB% (8th). Even if the Blue Jays DON’T hit Montgomery hard, the bullpen presents some good opportunities as well.

Players to Consider

Randal Grichuk ($4,200)
Vlad Guerrero Jr. ($4,500)
Cavan Biggio ($5,400)
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. ($4,300)
Jonathan Villar ($4,000)

2. San Diego Padres

Kyle Freeland ($7,000) started off the season on a good note and then, as expected, fizzled out quickly. Over his past two starts against the Padres and Giants, Freeland has pitched 6 13 innings, allowing eight runs on 19 hits with just four strikeouts. Now he faces the Padres again, who as a team owns a .338 wOBA, a .197 ISO and a 113 wRC+. It doesn’t hurt that the Rockies’ bullpen continues to be an area to exploit as well, as over the past week they have a 6.23 FIP, a 2.4 HR/9 and a 3.8 BB/9. Petco Park is a good thing for Freeland on paper but his stuff simply hasn’t been good.

Players to Consider

Fernando Tatis Jr. ($5,800)
Wil Myers ($4,400)
Manny Machado ($5,700)
Austin Nola ($4,800)
Trent Grisham ($4,900)

3. Tampa Bay Rays

Now, on the surface, you’re probably thinking why we’d want to stack against Max Scherzer ($10,400). As I mentioned, this is a fairly tough slate to stack teams aside from the two that I already talked (typed?) about. If you’re targeting against Scherzer, you want to do it with lefties, which the Rays can do. This season at home against lefties, Scherzer has faced 25 hitters and has a .452 wOBA and a 6.15 FIP. Overall, lefties have four of the six home runs he’s allowed as well. I’m honestly not sure if people are catching onto the fact that lefties are a problem with Scherzer but I can’t imagine the Rays generating much DFS interest. Either way, I think this is one of the better tournament stacks you can make on this slate.

Players to Consider

Austin Meadows ($4,400)
Brandon Lowe ($5,600)
Ji-man Choi ($3,500)
Yoshi Tsutsugo ($2,700)
Mike Brosseau ($4,700)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Brosseau is not in the lineup for tonight’s game vs. the Nationals.

4. Houston Astros

The Astros are another team I think won’t see a ton of attention tonight. I was excited to see what Frankie Montas ($8,000) would bring to 2020 but just like the year itself has gone, it’s been awful. Through seven starts, Montas has a 4.46 FIP, a 12.2 BB% and has allowed 18 runs in his past three starts, which includes five against the Astros last week. The Astros’ lineup is a bit beat up right now but they have been getting some good production from their bench guys stepping up. While this isn’t my favorite stack, I think they’ll also come in at low ownership simply because the matchup won’t draw much attention. For what it’s worth, despite only throwing 12 13 innings over the past week, the A’s relievers have combined for a 6.39 FIP and a 3.6 HR/9.

Players to Consider

Michael Brantley ($3,600)
Kyle Tucker ($4,500)
George Springer ($4,600)
Carlos Correa ($4,500)
Aledmys Diaz ($2,000)
