Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for September 8

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Tuesday’s two-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

There are just four teams remaining in the DraftKings Madden 21 Tournament, and the Finals will be set after Tuesday night’s two games on the main slate. We start with the AFC at 6 p.m. ET as the Chiefs host the Patriots. Kansas City is 5-0 in their Madden 21 sims after dispatching the Chargers on Monday. In the NFC, the Saints are the remaining undefeated team, and the only team standing between them and the championship is their division rivals, the fifth-seeded Falcons, who went on the road and upset the Seahawks and the Cowboys. The Saints beat Atlanta, 23-17, in the divisional play-in round and and will look to stay unbeaten in their 8 p.m. ET matchup.

You can see the standings and results throughout the tournament here on Playbook and keep up with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page, where you can also find the new depth charts and X-factors for the teams in Madden 21.

Patrick Mahomes, KC vs. NE, $7,800 — Mahomes has been excellent in these Madden 21 sims and went off for 34.28 DKFP against the Chargers, throwing for 372 yards and four touchdowns in his most recent sim. He has also shown a little more scrambling ability including a game against Denver in which he had two rushing scores and 50 rushing yards on his way to 35.28 DKFP. Mahomes has an extremely high ceiling and has lived up to his 99 overall rating so far. He’s pricey but probably worth it as he takes on the Patriots.

Other Option — Drew Brees ($6,800)

Matt Ryan, ATL at NO, $6,200 — Since Ryan doesn’t run, his fantasy upside is very touchdown-dependent. He had a solid game against the Saints when he faced them earlier, throwing for 322 yards, but he didn’t have any scores so only managed 15.88 DKFP. He threw for two scores in Monday’s upset of the Packers and has totaled nine touchdowns and 1,240 yards in his five sims so far. He’ll look to help his Falcons finish their run of upsets and knock off another undefeated foe on their road to the championship

Other Option — Cam Newton ($6,000)

Running Back

Alvin Kamara, NO vs. ATL, $7,500 — Kamara has five touchdowns in his five sims after catching a touchdown in the previous round against Dallas. He has over 18 DKFP in each of his five sims to this point and offers a great ceiling based on his rushing and receiving potential. Kamara’s only game without a score came against the Falcons, but he did haul in eight passes for 67 yards and still finished with 19.8 DKFP. Kamara has been outstanding so far in Madden 21 and will look to keep rolling in his second game against Atlanta.

Other Option — Sony Michel ($6,500)

Todd Gurley II, ATL at NO, $5,900 — Gurley has been almost as productive as Kamara and comes much cheaper if you need to save salary. He has scored six touchdowns and averaged 23.0 DKFP through his five sims and put up a massive 34.2 DKFP against the Saints the first time he played them. In that contest, he had two touchdowns on the ground and eight catches for 90 yards. In his most recent sim, he had seven more catches for 38 yards in addition to 97 rushing yards and a touchdown for a total of 26.5 DKFP. Gurley should continue to carry the load for the Falcons and is a great play under $6K.

Other Options — Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($5,600), James White ($4,200)

Wide Receiver

Tyreek Hill, KC vs. NE, $7,800 — Hill’s 99 speed rating has made him one of the most dynamic options at WR in both Madden 2020 and in the new Madden 21. His volume makes him legendary, though, since the Chiefs are doing a good job getting the ball into his hands early and often to help him post big numbers. He had six catches for 163 yards and a pair of scores for 37.3 DKFP in his most recent contest against the Chargers and posted over 18 DKFP in three of his four sims before that. He has five touchdowns in five games and is averaging 6.6 catches for 90.4 yards per game.

Other Options — Julio Jones ($7,400), Michael Thomas ($7,000)

Emmanuel Sanders, NO vs. ATL, $4,000 — While we haven’t seen Sanders with the Saints in real life yet, he definitely has made a good fit for the offense in simland. Sanders has totaled 13 catches in his past two games and produced over 16 DKFP in each of those contests. He seems to be a very nice possession option out of the slot and be well on his way to establishing a good rapport with virtual Drew Brees. He has upside against an Atlanta secondary that can sometimes be ineffective. At just $4K his average of over four catches per sim makes him an attractive and relatively safe play.

Other Options — Calvin Ridley ($4,300), N’Keal Harry ($3,300)

Tight End

Devin Asiasi, NE at KC, $5,200 — Asiasi has been very good stepping into the Rob Gronkowski route tree that made Ben Watson such a hero in the Madden 2020 sims. Asiasi hauled in eight catches for 87 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots win on Monday and finished with 22.7 DKFP. He is averaging 14.5 DKFP per contest and has over 15 DKFP in three of his five sims. Asiasi has been one of Cam Newton’s go-to options, so I expect plenty of volume for him in this matchup against Kansas City.

Other Option — Travis Kelce ($5,800)

Jared Cook, NO vs. ATL, $4,500 — Cook came through with a monster game against the Cowboys in the previous round, hauling in 13 catches for 111 yards, a touchdown and 33.1 DKFP. He has been very boom-or-bust in Madden 21 with a pair of games under 3.0 DKFP in his past four along with two strong performances. He had five catches for 62 yards against Atlanta in their first meeting and is a solid play if you can’t spend over $5K at your TE spot after paying up at other positions.

Chiefs DST vs. NE, $3,000 — Kansas City’s defense hasn’t been shutting other teams down completely, but it has been able to make the big plays that you need from a DST to be a good fantasy choice. In their two playoff wins, the Chiefs have allowed under 14 points and picked up five sacks against both the Steelers and the Chargers. They had exactly 9.0 DKFP in each of those outings which is also their average in their five sims in Madden 21.
