Best Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the PGA TOUR’s Safeway Open

Reid Fowler provides his top PGA TOUR bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Safeway Open.

Gone are the days where Phil Mickelson was a long shot to win a tournament on the PGA TOUR. Lefty comes in as the favorite to win this week’s Safeway Open on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Si Woo Kim and two-time winner Brendan Steele to follow. The Safeway Open (formerly known as the Frys.com Open) has seen five of the past nine winners get their first PGA TOUR win here.

Last season, Cameron Champ was at or above +10000 when he won, Kevin Tway was at or above +5000 the previous year, and Brendan Steele was at or above +5000 the first year he won while sitting at or above +3300 in his second victory here. Over the past six years, the past winners’ average odds here have been +8300, per Golf Betting System.

For a full course preview and key statistics breakdown, refer to the DraftKings Preview on DraftKings Playbook. Here are the bets we should be considering this week on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Cameron Davis to Win +4500

As referred to in the DraftKings Preview article, Davis has been impressive over his last two starts with a 12th at the 3M Open and a 29th at THE NORTHERN TRUST, his first time making it into the FedExCup playoffs. He finished last season at 20th in driving distance, and none have been better over the past 12 rounds in birdie or better gained and putting than Davis. Cam captured a top 20 in his first appearance at Silverado but followed it up with a missed cut last season, although I’m not worried. The young-Australian recorded two top 10s and recently a top 12 at the 3M Open last season.

Doc Redman to Win +4500

Few have been better than Redman when it comes to ball-striking, ranking fifth in approach since the restart. He’s not averaging the same distance off-the-tee as Davis but was one of the more accurate drivers last season, ranking 13th. Emiliano Grillo (+3500), Brandt Snedeker (+4500), and Chez Reavie (+3500) have all played well here over the past four years, proving it isn’t only about the long-ball. Redman could be in line for a solid week based on how well he’s hitting it, ranking seventh in opportunities gained over the previous three months.

Harry Higgs to win +10000 | Top 10 +750

Higgs may not get the same attention as his fellow Korn Ferry graduate, Scottie Scheffler, and while Scheffler played fantastic last season, Higgs flashed some great golf down the stretch, playing in two of the three FedExCup Playoff stages. Harry didn’t play well at the beginning of the restart but finished 11th at TPC Boston in a strong field. Higgs won in 2019 on the Korn Ferry Tour, has played well on the west coast and finished with a top 25 here last season. Finishing 55th in the FedExCup standings, Higgs should be feeling confident this week.
