Rhode Island at Duquesne: URI -4.5 (-112)

Maybe this is a trap, but with how pathetic Duquesne has been scoring the ball, I don’t see how URI doesn’t break this one open. The Dukes have lost four of their last five, going 0-5 ATS during that span. Specifically looking into the last four games, this team just can’t score. It found its way to 63 points against Dayton, but still lost to the Flyers by nine. In the other three games, the Dukes totaled 48 in a 13-point loss to Davidson, 48 again in a three-point win over Fordham (as 13.5-point favorites), and 48 again in a 14-point loss to St. Bonaventure. It’s a very thin team to begin with that gets into a lot of foul trouble, whereas the Rams have a pretty deep squad that gets out in transition and can score the ball. Outside of a dud against UMass, Rhody’s looked pretty strong recently. The Rams have a 15-point win over VCU, and a 20-point win over George Mason, after going down double-digits early.

Auburn at Arkansas: AUB +6.5 (-110)

Auburn’s been red-hot since Sharife Cooper got on the floor, and I’m hoping things stay that way on Wednesday. The freshman PG made his debut three games ago, and completely changed the look of the Tigers offensively, giving them life they just didn’t have before. Cooper’s averaging 21.7 points, 9.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals in over 33 minutes per game. Auburn is 2-0-1 ATS since he returned, and the push is looking more impressive by the day — a four-point loss to Alabama, who continues to steamroll the SEC. The other two wins were an 18-point win over Georgia and a seven-point win over Kentucky, both which opened around pick’ems and closed with the Tigers favored by a few points. I don’t have much bad to say about Arkansas. It is just 1-4 over the last five games, blowing out Georgia, but suffering blowout losses to ‘Bama, LSU and Mizzou, along with a five-point loss to highly-ranked Tennessee. Auburn did lose this matchup by 12 the first time around, but the Razorbacks are on a slide, and the Tigers will have revenge on their mind with their newfound stud.

SEC Conference Winner: Alabama (+465)

I’ve made mention to ‘Bama a couple of times now. Unfortunately this price was +700 just last night, prior to the Tide getting a 30-point road win at LSU in a pick’em. We lost value, but I’m not going to let that prevent me from a good bet. ‘Bama sits at 12-3, not just winning SEC games, but dominating them. This ticket will be for the team that wins the SEC tournament, and I don’t see how ‘Bama doesn’t go deep, and at least give us a hedging opportunity if we lose faith. Come March, we should be sitting on an excellent number here.
