Studs
Ollie Watkins ($7,500)
Watkins is rapidly turning into a reliable forward for Aston Villa despite his young age. He has already scored seven goals on 46 shots taken, leading Villa in both those metrics. He scored a composed goal, latching on to a mistake in the box, against Newcastle United to help register a 2-0 win in the previous game. Burnley doesn’t score too many goals, which means the ball will stay in the Villa final third for a significant portion of the time, creating a higher chance for fantasy points for Watkins.
Values
Christian Pulisic ($7,000)
Pulisic hasn’t done much this season, in terms of a direct hand in goals. That’s because he has missed a large chunk of the season through injury. He has been slowly reintegrated into the setup, which bodes well for his confidence. He has incredible speed down the flanks, whipping deliveries into the box or even playing more centrally to take shots himself.
Others to consider: James Rodriguez ($8,600)
Midfielders
Studs
Bruno Fernandes ($10,200)
Fernandes is not a difficult choice for midfielder. He is leading a much-improved Manchester United in all key fantasy metrics: goals scored (11, fourth-most in the EPL), assists (7) and shots taken (63). He is also second on Manchester United in passes completed (1,049), an indicator that most offensive phases go through him.
Values
Mason Mount ($8,500)
Mount is the provider for Chelsea. He is tasked with picking up the setpieces, including most corners and free kicks. That puts him in a position to create a tangible and direct contribution to a goal. He has already chipped in with three assists this season. He has also taken 35 shots, second-most for Chelsea this season. He is currently averaging 13.1 DKFP per game.
Others to consider: Jack Grealish ($9,100)
Defenders
Studs
Lucas Digne ($6,700)
A defender that can contribute offensively is the first point of analysis for fantasy roster construction. Digne is the primary dead-ball specialist for Everton. He is currently leading Everton in assists with five. Leicester City will be a hard team to keep out, but at Goodison Park, Everton can be a harder team to get past.
Values
Lewis Dunk ($3,600)
Brighton is currently 17th with 17 points. Its next opponent, Fulham, is 18th with 12 points. Even though Brighton has apparent defensive issues, Brighton is a better team on paper. Considering Fulham has scored just 15 goals so far, at a rate of well under one goal per game, there could be a rare clean sheet in the offing for Brighton. Dunk is also a target in the box in dead-ball situations.
Goalkeepers
David de Gea ($5,900)
De Gea has kept six clean sheets this season (eighth in the EPL) despite not having a great campaign this year. However, Manchester United is up against a team that has scored the fewest goals this season (10), positioned at the bottom of the table. Anything can happen in soccer, but a clean sheet for de Gea is very likely.
Others to consider: Edouard Mendy ($5,600)
