Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for Trail Blazers vs. 76ers Showdown on February 11

Mike Barner gives his top NBA lineup advice for Thursday’s fantasy basketball Showdown contest on DraftKings between the Trail Blazers and 76ers, which starts at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Thursday brings just five games in the NBA. One of them is a matchup between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Philadelphia 76ers, two teams with some of the biggest stars in the league. This game will also be the featured Showdown contest on DraftKings, so let’s discuss some players to consider for your lineups.

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Captain’s Pick

Joel Embiid ($18,300 CP): Embiid is the leader of the Sixers’ offense, which is evident by the fact that he has a 32.9 percent usage rate. That mark is also good for the fourth-highest usage rate in the entire league. Factor in that he will be playing a Blazers team that has the third-worst defensive rating in the league and the sky is the limit here for Embiid.

Damian Lillard ($16,800 CP): Lillard isn’t too far behind Embiid with his 31 percent usage rate checking in as the 12th-highest mark in the league. The Blazers need him now, more than ever, with CJ McCollum (foot) and Jusuf Nurkic (wrist) out. Across nine games since McCollum went down, Lillard has averaged 32 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 4.7 three-pointers.

UTIL Plays

Gary Trent Jr. ($7,400): Trent has also been one of the major beneficiaries of McCollum’s absence. Not only has he started each of the last eight games, but he’s averaged 36 minutes during that stretch. Although he doesn’t provide much outside of the scoring column, his added playing time, combined with his lethal three-point shooting, has allowed him to score at least 28 DKFP seven times over that eight-game span.

Harry Giles III ($2,200): There are several high-salary players who are very appealing for this game, especially with how poorly the Blazers have played defensively. If you want to load up on stars and fill out the back of your entry with a cheap player or two, Giles might be worth considering. If Enes Kanter ($8,400) gets into foul trouble against Embiid, Giles could be forced into added minutes. Also, if the Sixers race out to a big lead against the undermanned Blazers, Giles could see added minutes in the second half.

Tyrese Maxey ($2,000): An important note that impacts Maxey is that Shake Milton (ankle) is listed as doubtful. Milton has been one of the main weapons off the Sixers’ bench, averaging 24 minutes per game. If he does indeed sit out, Maxey could be in line for a larger role. Across nine games in which Maxey has played between 20 and 29 minutes, he’s averaged 11.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 three-pointers. That makes him intriguing at such a cheap salary.

Carmelo Anthony ($6,800): This has the makings of a matchup in which it might be best to go with a stars-and-scrubs approach. That makes someone like Anthony less appealing. He’s had his occasional moments, scoring at least 29.5 DKFP in three of the last four games. However, he’s also scored 10.5 DKFP or fewer in three of his last six contests. There is plenty of risk that comes with adding him to your entry, so proceed with caution.

The Outcome

Despite the Sixers being a much better team at home than on the road, they are tough to beat, regardless of where they play, when they are as healthy as they are right now. While I do think this game being played in Portland helps the Blazers, missing McCollum and Nurkic could ultimately be what does them in.

Final Score: 76ers 119, Blazers 111
