English Premier League (EPL) Best Bets: Soccer Picks, Predictions to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for February 13 and 14

Charlie Mullan gives his best bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for this weekend’s English Premier League (EPL) soccer action.

A few weeks ago, the English Premier League (EPL) title race looked set to be one of the closest in years with six teams separated by just four points. But Manchester City has managed to pull away from the chasing pack and they enter the latest slate of games with a healthy five-point cushion over their nearest rivals Manchester United. Victory at home to Tottenham will move Pep Guardiola closer to another title. Here are some soccer bets that stand out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook for the upcoming English Premier League (EPL) games.

Leicester City vs. Liverpool

Both teams to score (-175)

With just two wins in their last nine league games, Liverpool’s hopes of staying in the title race are hanging by a thread. The Reds are 10 points behind leaders Manchester City and one more punch could end their hopes of repeating last season’s success. Leicester is well positioned to deliver that knockout blow. Victory for Brendan Rodgers would open up a six-point gap on his former employers and all but eliminate the champions from this season’s title race. Liverpool has 27 less points than they did at this stage last season, which is the worst return of any champion in the history of the EPL after 23 games. Leicester could climb to second in the table for a day at least which should be enough motivation to get the job done at home to Liverpool, who won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Anfield. Leicester has not won any of the last seven league contests with the Reds, but this would be the perfect time to end that sequence. Six of the last seven meetings have seen three or more goals scored.

Crystal Palace vs. Burnley

Under 2.5 goals (-167)

Burnley may be eight points clear of the relegation zone, but Sean Dyche’s side will not be taking their place in the league for granted. Victory for the Clarets will see Burnley climb two places and make it three straight wins over the Eagles. Burnley has not scored a goal before the 32nd minute in their last 12 league games, but they might be able to catch Palace cold like Eagles’ opponents have done recently. Palace has conceded a goal in the opening 10 minutes in three of their last four league contests. They lost two of those encounters. Seven of the last eight meetings have been low-scoring games with two or fewer goals scored. Burnley has won the last two meetings 1-0 and they will happily take a third successive win by a single goal. Dyche’s side has scored the fewest goals of any EPL team this season (14) with just five of them coming on the road.

Manchester City vs. Tottenham

Over 2.5 goals (-165)

Manchester City sits at the top of the standings with a healthy five-point lead and a game in hand on the chasing pack. For many, it’s City’s title to lose, but anything is possible. City boss Pep Guardiola has to decide whether to change their approach to games and become more conservative or continue the way they have been playing, which helped them get to the top of the table. City faces a wounded animal in Tottenham, whose season is in danger of unraveling following their elimination from the FA Cup in a nine-goal thriller at Everton on Wednesday. Their only realistic chance of winning a trophy is in the Carabao Cup where City will be their opponents. Tottenham won the first meeting 2-0 in north London and the teams chasing City will hope Spurs can complete a league double on the leaders to make the title race a thrilling one. City is unbeaten in their last 22 league and cup games and they have taken 30 points from a possible 30 in the league.

West Bromwich vs. Manchester United

Both teams not to score (-113)

It’s second from the bottom against second from the top at the Hawthorns in a must-win game for both sides. West Brom needs the points to boost their chances of staying in the league while United needs the win to keep alive their hopes of winning the title for the first time since ending their last championship winning season with a 5-5 draw at the Hawthorns in May 2013. United’s last two league games have produced a total of 15 goals but the last of those came deep into injury time to deny United a win over Everton at Old Trafford last weekend. It’s been a rough period for the home side with just one point taken from their last five EPL games. One goal has been enough to win the last two contests and “both teams to score” has not landed in seven of the last eight meetings. Recently, West Brom has suffered heavy losses at home to Manchester City, Arsenal and Leeds. The damage was done in the first half when they trailed by a combined score of 9-0 at the break in those three contests. An early goal for United could make for another testing day for the home side.

Arsenal vs. Leeds United

Under 2.5 goals (+135)

Before the season got underway, Leeds would have been delighted to be above Arsenal in the standings at this stage of the season. And they have every right to be happy with the way their return to the EPL has turned out. Arsenal’s season may not have gone according to plan so far, but Leeds deserves to be a point and a place above the Gunners. Marcelo Bielsa’s side has stuck to their philosophy of playing open football right from day one and it’s no surprise their 22 EPL games have produced 76 goals at an average of 3.45 goals per game—the most in the league. Of those 76 goals scored, 38 have been scored by their opponents and 38 by Leeds. The 38th of those was scored by Patrick Bamford who continues to score for fun in the top flight. His 12th goal of the season sealed a 2-0 win at home to Crystal Palace. A goal against the Gunners will be the 10th different team he has managed in a season that could culminate in a call up to the England squad for Euro 2020. The first meeting was a goalless draw and under 2.5 goals looks to be a good bet again.
