Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for February 16

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Tuesday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The DraftKings Dream Stream is ready to help you take back Tuesday with another great day of six Madden sims. The star-studded three-game featured slate starts at 6:00 p.m. ET when the Carolina Panthers visit the Houston Texans for their third meeting in these Madden 21 sims. At 8:00 p.m. ET in primetime, the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Jacksonville Jaguars for their meeting of the Madden 21 sims as well, but surprisingly, the Jags got a win in each of their earlier meetings and will be looking to make it three straight against the reigning AFC Champions. The final game of the slate features the team that beat the Chiefs in the real-life Super Bowl, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to the virtual Big Apple to face the New York Giants.

As in all these Madden sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Quarterback

Stud

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars, $7,900 — It’s a tough call between Mahomes and Deshaun Watson ($7,800) on this slate, with both in good matchups with high ceilings and coming in at about the same price. Ultimately, I’ll go with Mahomes due to his consistency, but either option could go off and break the slate if the other player struggles. Despite his team’s two losses to lowly Jacksonville, Mahomes has put up good numbers against the Jags with 23.32 DKFP and 33.46 DKFP. He has thrown for multiple touchdowns in each of those two games and tossed an astounding 133 scores in his 53 Madden 21 sims while adding 11 more on the ground. Mahomes has been the most effective passer in the game with 285.7 passing yards per sim and has reached 29 DKFP in three of his past five games after totaling 30.58 DKFP with over 300 passing yards and three touchdowns in his most recent sim, which was against the Rams. Although Watson’s rushing potential does give him a high ceiling as well, Mahomes is less boom-or-bust and should be able to find success once again as he takes on the Jaguars’ lowly-rated defense.

Other Option — Deshaun Watson ($7,800)

Value

Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs, $6,100 — There’s a sharp drop off from the two stud options to the other four starting QBs, but Minshew has shown a high enough ceiling to be the best pivot play. He has thrown multiple touchdowns in four of his past five games for over 15 DKFP in each of those contests. He also lit up this same Chiefs secondary for 373 yards and three touchdowns in his most recent game against them, totaling 29.82 DKFP. Minshew has actually been pretty good in these sims, producing 16.9 DKFP on 216.6 passing yards per contest. He is a definite step down from Mahomes and Watson, but he is the best of the other four available options and saves a ton of salary to spend up in other spots.

Other Options — Teddy Bridgewater ($6,500), Daniel Jones ($5,900)

Running Back

Stud

Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers at Houston Texans, $7,900 — CMC has been hit-or-miss in these sims, unlike in real life where he is a consistently high producer when healthy. McCaffrey does have a good matchup against the Texans in this contest and will look to deliver on the upside he can bring due to his 99 overall rating. McCaffrey has scored 31 touchdowns in his 42 sims and just had 29.0 DKFP in his most recent game against the Colts. He has over 11 DKFP in six of his past eight games and also produced over that number in each of his earlier matchups with the Texans. When he’s at his best, CMC is also very involved as a pass-catcher and has averaged 4.4 receptions for 35.2 receiving yards per sim to go with his 64.5 rushing yards per game. Even though he isn’t risk-free, I like his matchup and potential on this slate.

Other Options — Saquon Barkley ($7,700), Chris Thompson ($6,500)

Value

LeSean McCoy, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants, $3,700 — McCoy continues to be a great source of cheap production as the Bucs’ third-down RB. He didn’t get a catch in his most recent game but is still averaging 3.2 catches per contest and had multiple receptions in each of his previous 12 contests while averaging 3.8 catches per game over that span. He and the Bucs will be facing the Giants for the first time in these Madden 21 sims, but New York’s defense hasn’t been very effective at all, especially against pass-catching backs like McCoy. He should bounce back and provide good value for this minimal salary since his PPR production makes him a relatively safe bargain play.

Other Options — Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($6,300), Duke Johnson ($3,800)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars, $7,900 — Hill has been the top WR in all of Madden 21 in these sims and should be able to dominate Jacksonville’s secondary. The speedy slot receiver doesn’t have a 99 overall rating like Mahomes and McCaffrey, but he does have the only 99 speed rating in Madden 21 and has used that to break multiple big plays throughout these sims. His volume has been incredible, as he has averaged 6.4 catches per sim for 95.3 receiving yards. He has also found the end zone 50 times in 53 contests, including one score in each of his first two games against the Jaguars. He had a tame 13.6 DKFP in their first meeting before going off for eight catches, 142 yards, two touchdowns and 31.2 DKFP in the rematch. He has that kind of ceiling once in every game and has 20-plus DKFP in five of his past seven contests. Even though it’s tricky to fit him under your salary cap, Hill’s ceiling is too high to leave him off your roster.

Other Options — DJ Chark Jr. ($6,300), Sterling Shepard ($6,000)

Value

DJ Moore, Carolina Panthers at Houston Texans, $5,000 — The Texans’ secondary has been extremely beatable throughout these Madden 21 sims and Moore has done pretty well as the Panthers’ WR1 with a few down games as outliers. He has at least five catches and over 13 DKFP in three of his past four sims along with three touchdowns over his past five contests. Moore beat the Broncos for 19.4 DKFP in his most recent sim, and he is a great option at only $5K in this matchup.

Demarcus Robinson, Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars, $4,300 — Robinson is the Chiefs’ WR3 but has been very involved lately and continues to be one of the best ways to fit in all the Chiefs’ high-priced plays. He has scored a touchdown in four straight sims and now has 16 touchdowns to go with his average of 2.8 catches for 41.4 yards per sim. He had a touchdown in each of his first two games against Jacksonville as well, posting 7.8 DKFP in their first meeting and 16.5 DKFP in the rematch. He continues to hit for big totals on a regular basis but is still very affordable at barely more than $4K.

Other Options — Dede Westbrook ($5,100), Sammy Watkins ($4,400), Scotty Miller ($3,400)

Tight End

Stud

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs at Jacksonville Jaguars, $6,300 — Despite both Robinson and Hill producing good stats, Kelce hasn’t lacked for volume in the Chiefs’ passing game either. He just had nine catches for 93 yards and 32.3 DKFP in his most recent contest and posted 12.5 DKFP and 17.7 DKFP in his two earlier matchups with Jacksonville. Kelce hasn’t reached his ceiling quite as often as Hill, but he does have plenty of upside, especially in this soft matchup.

Other Option — Evan Engram ($4,800)

Value

Tyler Eifert, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Kansas City Chiefs, $4,700 — Eifert has been remarkably consistent in these sims for Jacksonville even though his ceiling isn’t quite at the level of Kelce’s. He is coming off a huge 11-catch performance, though, which was his second straight game with over 19 DKFP. He has at least three catches in 19 of his past 20 sims including at least five catches in each of his previous matchups with the Chiefs. He has scored 14 touchdowns in his 44 sims, but his real value is that he is averaging 4.7 catches per sim and almost always brings that PPR production.

Other Options — Ian Thomas ($4,100), Darren Fells ($3,900)

DST

Stud

Buccaneers DST at New York Giants, $3,000 — The Bucs’ defense hasn’t been as good in these sims as it was on their Super Bowl run in real life, but it has averaged 4.5 DKFP per sim, which is the second-highest on this slate behind only the Chiefs’ DST ($2,600). The Buccaneers typically get plenty of pressure and have piled up 112 sacks in 48 sims to go with 21 takeaways. They should be able to harass Daniel Jones ($5,900) in this matchup and put together a good total, especially if they get a turnover or two.

Value

Texans DST vs. Carolina Panthers, $2,700 — In Madden 2020, we kept talking about how Texans fans could continue to enjoy DeAndre Hopkins after he was traded, and now in Madden 21, it’s their last chance to see J.J. Watt tearing things up in a Houston uniform. The Texans have 92 sacks in their 44 sims and have 22 takeaways. In their two previous matchups with the Panthers, they totaled 16 DKFP, so I like them as a solid low-cost option as they face Carolina for the third time.
