Fantasy Basketball Cheat Sheet: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for February 2

Julian Edlow gives his top lineup advice at each position for Tuesday’s fantasy basketball slate on DraftKings, which starts at 7:00 p.m. ET.

Here are some plays that jump out on DraftKings at each position for Tuesday’s main NBA slate, along with some strategy unique to this evening’s games.

Virginia Bettors: Double your money if Washington hits a 3-pointer tonight against Portland. Visit the DraftKings Sportsbook promos page to opt-in.

Point Guard

Worth Paying Up For: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers at Washington Wizards ($10,700)

The Blazers are on the second night of a back-to-back, but got throttled on Monday in Milwaukee. Lillard only played 27 minutes in the blowout and should be fresh for one of the best matchups in the NBA. Washington allows the most DKFP to the point guard position, and Lillard and Russell Westbrook ($9,100) seem to take their matchups against each other personally. Russ is coming off the high of an insane victory over the Nets, and has some upside on this slate. But I lean to Lillard with the extra motivation.

Best Bang For Your Buck: Cole Anthony, Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors ($5,500)

Aaron Gordon’s injury is a pretty big deal when you consider all the ways he was contributing for Orlando. Gordon was averaging 13.8 points and 7.2 rebounds, and while the 4.2 assists don’t seem like much, he was adapting to a point forward role after Markelle Fultz was lost for the season. Salaries will adjust in the 4-6 weeks Gordon misses, but Orlando doesn’t have much of a choice but to let Anthony run with a full-time starting PG role. The rookie has dished out six assists in four of his last five games, and just went for 30.0 DKFP in this matchup against Toronto on Sunday.

Shooting Guard

Worth Paying Up For: Paul George, Los Angeles Clippers at Brooklyn Nets ($8,900)

The Nets are putting up historic numbers on both ends of the floor. While the offense is tough to stop, this is also on pace to be the worst defense in NBA history. If the Clippers fall into the Nets’ pace for any long stretches in this one, we should see a flurry of points. George’s salary is down $800 over the last two games, yet the Nets rank 27th defending SGs. Like we just saw from Washington’s stars, the Clippers have very high upside in this matchup.

Best Bang For Your Buck: DeAnthony Melton, Memphis Grizzlies at Indiana Pacers ($4,500)

Melton’s been going off recently for the Grizz, despite being completely out of the rotation a couple games ago. Memphis has gone back and forth about Melton’s role this season, but every time he plays decent minutes, he puts up numbers. Since being reinserted, Melton’s played 59 minutes and totaled 76.0 DKFP over the last two contests. Might as well ride the wave for $4.5K.

Small Forward

Worth Paying Up For: Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics at Golden State Warriors ($7,800)

Brown’s been super efficient scoring the ball recently, and should play a larger role over the next few weeks with Marcus Smart sidelined. Smart has been attempting over 11 shots per game while playing over 32 minutes, and the C’s don’t exactly have the depth to fill all of that with their bench. Expect more production from the top in Brown and Jayson Tatum ($8,600).

Best Bang For Your Buck: Nassir Little, Portland Trail Blazers at Washington Wizards ($3,100)

Little was the star for the Blazers in Milwaukee on Monday, and it wasn’t a product of the blowout. He was producing from the start of the game, and finished with 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting in 30 minutes. Finishing with 47.0 DKFP is pretty unlikely two nights in a row, but for $3.1K, this is a pretty easy spot to go right to on the cheap. The matchup only helps.

Power Forward

Worth Paying Up For: Pascal Siakam, Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic ($7,700)

Norman Powell ($6,400) is questionable to return from a quad injury, but OG Anunoby remains out. The absence of these wings has opened up more for Siakam, who dominated Orlando for 30 points and 10 boards on Sunday. Overall, Siakam finished with 55.5 DKFP in 34 minutes, but his salary only jumped up $100.

Best Bang For Your Buck: Gary Clark, Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors ($3,300)

Editor’s Note: Magic PF/C Gary Clark will start in place of Gordon in tonight’s game vs. the Raptors.

Clark can have a tendency to disappear on the court, but he’s one of the bodies that could see the biggest jump in minutes without Gordon. He’s also the cheapest play that stands to benefit, adding less risk. With this being the first full game without AG, we need to see which direction Orlando decides to go in. James Ennis ($3,400), Dwayne Bacon ($3,800) and Khem Birch ($4,200) could also be in line for a bigger boost that anticipated.

Center

Worth Paying Up For: Nikola Vucevic, Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors ($8,200)

Gordon’s versatility means there’s opportunity opened up across the board for the Magic, from point guards all the way to centers. As the go-to scorer, Vucevic has more on his shoulders now. Vuce had a standard game on Sunday, scoring 45.5 DKFP, but now his salary drops $500. Combine the discount with Gordon’s absence and there’s more upside here.

Best Bang For Your Buck: Kevon Looney, Golden State Warriors vs. Boston Celtics ($3,400)

Looney’s been starting for the Warriors, and finally put together a game worth rostering for fantasy purposes. While the Pistons do allow the most DKFP to the center position, Looney dropped 23.5 DKFP on them in 23 minutes on Saturday. More notably, James Wiseman is going to miss time, leaving an even larger role for Looney at an extremely affordable salary.

Overall Lineup Strategy

The bubble-less NBA is turning into the Wild West ...just like NFL and MLB before it. Following the news was always a must in the NBA, but now it’s even more important. Make sure to follow @dklive on Twitter and download the DK Live app to stay up-to-date with all the latest news.

Two games catch my eye with monster totals — stacking Clippers against the Nets and stacking both sides of the Blazers vs. Wizards game, with a lean to Portland. Those are good games to target stars, and some injuries give us both stud and cheap values with Gordon out for Orlando and Smart out for Boston. Wiseman is the sneaky news to create strong value in Looney.
