Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for February 22

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Monday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The DraftKings Dream Stream starts the final workweek of February with a full day of six Madden sims lined up throughout the afternoon and evening. The featured three-game classic slate starts off at 6:00 p.m. ET when the Indianapolis Colts host the Las Vegas Raiders. At 8:00 p.m. ET in the primetime contest, the Atlanta Falcons visit the Los Angeles Rams in a fun NFC matchup and Monday wraps up with a matchup between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Seattle Seahawks in the virtual Pacific Northwest.

As in all these Madden sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of this season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Chargers, $7,000 — Despite his long track record of success in these sims, Wilson has been struggling lately and has been held under 15 DKFP in five of his past seven games, including a very disappointing 6.92 DKFP performance in his most recent contest, which was against the Bucs. He still had enough upside compared to the other QBs on this slate, though, to make him the best expensive play. In his 47 Madden 21 sims, Wilson has thrown 60 touchdowns and run for 23 more. He had three of those touchdowns in his earlier meeting with the Chargers and ran for over 100 yards on his way to 30.42 DKFP in a 24-21 loss. Wilson has ver 20 DKFP in 25 of those 47 sims (53.1%) and definitely brings the highest ceiling on the slate since no other QB brings much rushing production.

Other Option — Matt Ryan ($6,400)

Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams vs. Atlanta Falcons, $5,600 — Goff doesn’t offer the consistent potential rushing production that Wilson does, and as a result, he hasn’t been consistent. He needs to throw multiple touchdowns to be a good play, but when he does, he is a nice value option. In his most recent sim he did that, totaling 23.08 DKFP against the Colts on 217 passing yards and two touchdowns. He will be facing the Falcons for the first time in these sims, but Atlanta’s defense has been vulnerable to big plays and slot receivers, which could mean we get a good Goff game in this matchup. If Wilson continues to struggle, Goff could end up matching or exceeding his production while also saving significant salary to spend at other spots.

Other Option — Justin Herbert ($6,000)

Running Back

Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers at Seattle Seahawks, $7,300 — Ekeler has been very consistent in these sims as the focal point of the Chargers’ offense. He went off for 190 rushing yards and 36.0 DKFP in his earlier matchup against Seattle and is coming off back-to-back games with over 20 DKFP against the Browns and Vikings. Ekeler has actually scored over 21 DKFP in six straight sims in which he didn’t face the Bucs, who shut him down in two contests during that stretch. The Seahawks’ defense has been elite at forcing turnovers but struggles to slow down opposing RBs, so Ekeler is both the safest play and the option with the highest ceiling on this slate.

Other Options — Todd Gurley II ($7,500), Nyheim Hines ($6,500)

Jalen Richard, Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts, $4,500 — While the Chargers and Seahawks have played one previous time in these sims and the Falcons-Rams is a brand new matchup, the Raiders and Colts are familiar foes who have already simmed off four times. Richard had 11.7, 6.4, 9.2 and 7.8 DKFP in those previous four matchups, consistently getting involved as a receiving option as the third-down back. He has shown an even higher ceiling in other sims and even put up 20 DKFP in his most recent contest, which was against the Bears. He should be a solid salary saver on this slate since he comes in averaging just under 10 DKFP per contest on 3.25 catches for 22.0 receiving yards per sim.

Other Option — Darrell Henderson Jr. ($5,600), Carlos Hyde ($3,800)

Wide Receiver

Keenan Allen, Los Angeles Chargers at Seattle Seahawks, $6,200 — With Julio Jones ($6,600) potentially locked down by Jalen Ramsey, I think Allen is the high-priced WR to target on this slate since he gets such regular work out of the slot for rookie QB Justin Herbert ($6,000). Allen has four catches or more in 11 of his past 12 games and is coming off a two-touchdown, 28.7-DKFP performance against the Vikings. He only had three catches for 33 yards in his first matchup with the Seahawks, but Seattle doesn’t have an elite cover CB that shut him down. His reduced output in that contest was just a result of game script, which could definitely be flipped in this rematch. Allen has been very consistent as a PPR producer, and he should continue to be a solid option on this slate.

Other Options — Julio Jones ($6,600), Robert Woods ($5,800), T.Y. Hilton ($5,700)

Tyrell Williams, Las Vegas Raiders at Indianapolis Colts, $5,300 — Williams is averaging 13.6 DKFP per sim, which is the second-highest mark on the slate behind only Julio, but Williams is available at the ninth-highest salary. While he can be boom-or-bust, there’s too much upside to ignore at this price, especially going against a team with lowly-rated CBs. Williams has posted 12.9, 17.2, 7.1 and 12.2 DKFP in his four earlier matchups with Indianapolis and bounced back from a down game with a solid 15.4 DKFP against the Bears in his most recent sim. The Raiders’ WR1 has averaged 4.2 catches for 65.0 yards per sim and found the end zone 18 times. He makes a lot of sense in the midrange and comes with an extremely high ceiling due to his big-play ability.

Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders, $4,200 — Campbell is a big-play threat on the other side of that matchup that I like a lot as well since the Colts’ WR3 has a 94 speed rating and gets a good amount of work out of the slot. Campbell has hauled in five catches in each of his two most recent sims, producing 13.3 and 11.6 DKFP. He had seven catches for 101 yards and 20.1 DKFP in his most recent matchup with the Raiders after putting up solid but unspectacular totals of 6.1, 7.5 and 9.3 DKFP in their first three meetings. He has a high ceiling and can contribute consistently at this affordable price point.

Other Options — Cooper Kupp ($5,100), Russell Gage ($4,600), Joe Reed ($3,600)

Tight End

Trey Burton, Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders, $5,000 — I’m going with the consistency of Burton over the upside of Darren Waller ($5,300), especially since Waller hasn’t been great against the Colts in their previous meetings. Burton has been a go-to option for Philip Rivers ($6,100) in these sims and should be in for a good fantasy year in the real world with his new QB Carson Wentz. In simland, Burton is averaging 5.0 catches per contest since taking over as TE1 in the most recent depth chart update. He had 10 straight sims with at least 10 DKFP before a letdown in his most recent contest, and one of those good games came against the Raiders, who he beat for nine catches, 113 yards and 23.3 DKFP in their most recent matchup.

Other Option — Darren Waller ($5,300)

Hayden Hurst, Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams, $3,900 — Another consistent TE in these sims has been Hurst, who has at least three catches in nine of his past 10 sims. He doesn’t get into the end zone enough to be an elite TE play with just eight scores in 49 sims, but he has averaged 4.2 catches for 45.2 yards per sim making him a solid option from under $4K based on volume. He could be in for an above-average workload as well since the Rams’ CBs could force Matt Ryan ($6,400) to look more to his TE than his WRs.

Other Option — Greg Olsen ($4,400)

Seahawks DST vs. Los Angeles Chargers, $3,100 — The Seahawks continue to be one of the best DST in Madden 21, although the Patriots have passed them for most turnovers created. Seattle has forced 47 turnovers in 47 sims and added 113 sacks to go with 10 defensive touchdowns. The Seahawks have been getting great pressure on opposing QBs lately with 13 sacks over their three most recent sims, and they just had a great 17-DKFP performance against the Bucs in their previous contest. They should be able to get pressure on Herbert in this matchup and possibly force the rookie into some mistakes.

Rams DST vs. Atlanta Falcons, $2,800 — The Rams have the only player with a perfect 99 overall rating in play on this slate with X-factor Superstar Aaron Donald in the middle of their defensive line. With another X-factor Superstar on the outside in Jalen Ramsey, the Rams’ DST has produced 23 takeaways and 66 sacks in its 44 sims. They usually limit opponents' points very well, which makes them a safe pivot play if you don’t love the chalk ‘Hawks on this slate.
