The NBA is the Wild West right now given COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. We did wind up with a voided play on Monday, but won a couple props to go 2-0. With article plays now standing at 33-23, let’s go back to some familiar spots on Wednesday’s card and hope for some positive results.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.
This was a prop we rode early on in Oladipo’s tenure with the Rockets, going for nine assists in his team debut, and then six the following game before the prop moved up a bit. John Wall missed those games, and has now been ruled out for Wednesday. Wall averaged 6.6 assists in the five games since his return, but ‘Dipo was still able to be a playmaker — he had one assist in his first game with Wall, then had five, seven and seven in his last three outings. With Wall off the floor, and facing on OKC team missing two of its best guards, I like ‘Dipo to tally up some dimes in this one.
We cashed on Zeller over 8.5 boards at plus-money on Monday, and now the odds have adjusted. As mentioned, Zeller played 18 minutes or fewer in his first three games back from injury, but did manage to pull down seven rebounds in two of those games despite the limitations. Since then, Zeller’s averaging 11.8 boards per game, while playing 32.3 minutes. On top of that, PJ Washington suffered an injury on Monday, and will be held out of this contest. Washington is averaging 6.9 boards in 29 minutes per contest, and while Miles Bridges will be the next man up, a little more will fall on Zeller with how thin Charlotte is up front. The only potential red flag here would be foul trouble facing Joel Embiid.
We went here on Monday and cashed at plus-money, and now we’ll go back to it at an affordable -110. The rookie didn’t only cash us this one, but soared over, ripping down 11 boards. I’m shocked we didn’t see the number go up to 4.5 after a game like that. The Kings have clearly developed more trust in Haliburton, and have given him 30 or more minutes in five consecutive games. During that span, he’s averaged 6.2 rebounds, and is averaging 8.0 over his last three. The number is simply too low.
