The NBA is the Wild West right now given COVID-19 and the league’s health protocols, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t edges to be had. Wednesday was an ugly 0-3 card, with some bad reads mixed with some bad calls. We still sit at 33-26 on the season, and look to improve Friday.
Follow along on Twitter — @julianedlow — for what we hope to be another great season, as some plays jump out late due to news, particularly in the player prop market. Here’s what jumps out to me on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Opt-in before the start of the 4th quarter and if a 3-point shot is made in the final minute of Friday’s BOS vs. LAC game, you get an entry to a $100K contest on Wednesday, 2/10! See the DraftKings Big Trey Payday page for more details!
Welp, I think we’ve been here enough times by now to know where this one’s going. Grant did hit a rough patch in his point prop overs, but bounced back strong with 27 points in Utah on Tuesday. Overall, he’s gone over this number in 16 of his 21 games played, including 31 against the Suns earlier in the year.
Bridges jumped into the starting five in place of the injured PJ Washington on Wednesday, and produced solid numbers. He played 32 minutes against the 76ers, finishing with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Utah isn’t the best matchup to land on, but considering the role we saw Bridges featured in, I’m comfortable with this number. Charlotte seems to remain competitive as an underdog, and the Jazz are playing for the second night in a row.
Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Clippers: Jayson Tatum OVER 38.5 points, rebounds assists (+106) — **If Jaylen Brown is ruled out**
Editor’s Note: Celtics SG/SF Jaylen Brown (knee) has been ruled out for tonight’s game vs. the Clippers.
I don’t want to force a play, but when we get the potential Brown ruled out news, this would be something to pounce on. Brown’s questionable for the last game to tip on the slate, so we’ll want to pay close attention here. Marcus Smart has been out for both games of this west coast trip, and Tatum’s posted lines of 27-9-3 (39) against the Warriors and 27-9-10 (46) against the Kings. Kemba Walker did sit out in Sacramento, and I think if Brown were to be out for this one, it’d give Tatum a similar edge. Walker remains on a minutes restriction, also allowing Tatum more time as a primary ball-handler. I’ll pass on the prop if Brown does play, as the number should be close.
