Happy Monday, everybody! We’ve got the perfect cure for your early-week blues — a fantastic eight-game slate in the NBA, and plenty of value all around. You know by now that DraftKings has released a new fantasy format for DFS players to attack — Snake Drafts — so let’s get into how to best approach your picks.

You can head to the DraftKings NBA lobby to view all the available NBA Snake contests.

Favorable Early Round Targets:

Stephen Curry, G, Golden State Warriors
Snake Classic Rank: 5th

I’ll get to it in a little bit, but I really hate Nikola Jokic tonight. Options are limited atop the Snake Draft rankings. Enter Curry, who probably has the tastiest matchup of all the stars on this slate, going against a San Antonio defense that’s allowed the fourth-most DKFP this year to opposing point guards and ranks in the bottom seven of the NBA in efficiency over the past five games. Curry’s usage rate has been ridiculous lately as the Dubs look to get him to take on all of the scoring load, culminating in a 43.3 USG% in their last game, a loss to Dallas. Curry should be taking all the shots here in this great matchup.

Victor Oladipo, G, Houston Rockets
Snake Classic Rank: 16th

There’s no John Wall tonight. There’s no Eric Gordon, no Christian Wood. It’s just Victor Oladipo, who should have all of the ball, all of the shots and all of the usage. With Wall off the floor this season, Oladipo has seen a 4.2% increase in usage, a 5.4-DKFP increase on average. LaMelo Ball will likely be checking Oladipo, who should get the start at point guard in place of Wall, and Ball isn’t exactly known for his defense. Charlotte ranks 21st in DKFP allowed to opposing PGs, making this a nice matchup. I’m firing up Oladipo here and love that you can get him in the middle rounds.

Early Round Player to Avoid:

Nikola Jokic, F/C, Denver Nuggets
Snake Classic Rank: 1st

I think this is like the third time I’ve said to avoid Jokic in five snake draft previews or something like that, but this is not a particularly great spot for Jokic. If you’ve got the top pick — or maybe you’re at No. 2 or No. 3 and Jokic falls — you should pass. The Bucks have been great on defense lately with the best defensive rating in the NBA over their four-game winning streak, and they continue to be elite in the paint, averaging the third-fewest points in the paint in the NBA. Jokic isn’t going to score 14 points here, but he’s not going to be worth the top pick. There are plenty of other great options.

Late Round Fliers:

Draymond Green, F/C, Golden State Warriors
Snake Classic Rank: 35th

I can’t believe we’ve come to the point where we must acknowledge the OFFENSE coming from Green, but here we are. Over the past five games, Draymond leads the Warriors with a 123.2 Offensive Rating, and he will strut onto the court on Monday to find one of the weakest defenses of late in the Spurs, which we touched on earlier, and which also means this has the second-highest implied total on the DraftKings Sportsbook. Green has averaged 45 DKFP over the past two games and saw a ridiculous 37 minutes against Dallas with Golden State dealing with so many injuries to its power forwards and centers. There’s no reason to believe Draymond’s hot streak won’t continue tonight.

Coby White, G, Chicago Bulls
Snake Classic Rank: 44th

I love taking a shot here on White, who should be in a high-scoring game in which one of the teams just lost perhaps its second-best scorer in Lauri Markkanen. White has enjoyed a Usage Rating over 20% over the past three games, scoring in double digits and seeing around 30 minutes. In this game, we’ve got the highest implied total on the slate for the Bulls (119.6) with one of the fastest paces as well (104.2). He should continue to see the ball without Markkanen, and he’s trending upward.
