Madden Stream Picks: Top DraftKings Fantasy Football DFS Targets, Values for March 17

Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays at each position for Wednesday’s three-game Madden Stream DraftKings slate, which starts at 6:00 p.m. ET.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and the official start of the new NFL league year this Wednesday with a full day of Madden 21 sims on the DraftKings Dream Stream. It’s also another full day of wild weather in the sims, meaning all six games will be impacted by adverse weather conditions. The featured classic contest kicks off at 6:00 p.m. ET when the Los Angeles Rams take on the Cleveland Browns in a snow game. At 8:00 p.m. ET in primetime, another AFC North team is in action when the Baltimore Ravens take their talents to South Beach to take on the Miami Dolphins in a game that will be impacted by rain. The final game of the night on Madden After Dark will be back in the snow when the New England Patriots will host the Chicago Bears at 10 p.m. ET.

As in all of these Madden 21 sims, it’s important to know that each roster is not impacted by COVID-19 opt-outs, injuries, suspensions or illness and that the highest-rated options have been placed at the top of the depth charts. The roster for each team includes all player movement that occurred prior to Week 1 of the 2020-21 season and uses the Madden 21 ratings from Week 1 of this season.

For more details, you can find the game settings, depth charts, abilities and X-factors for each team in Madden 21 along with the upcoming schedule on the Madden Stream info page. There were a few tweaks to the X-factors and Superstars in the latest December update, so be sure to check the depth charts of each team.

Check out the daily DraftKings Madden Stream contests lobby with paid contests for real cash prizes now available alongside free contests. Each simulation will be played out computer vs. computer via an online Madden Stream using Madden 21. In this format, you can enjoy watching the game stream on the DraftKings YouTube channel, the DK Live app (download here) or right here in this post.

Quarterback

Stud

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins, $8,600 — Jackson is significantly more expensive than the other QBs on the slate, but he’s still worth considering since he has such a high ceiling. In his 59 sims, the Madden 21 cover athlete has thrown 62 touchdown passes while running for 45 more scores. He has averaged an incredible 106.1 rushing yards per sim, which is a better average than any RB in Madden. Jackson ran for 115 yards and threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns on his way to 32.22 DKFP while leading the Ravens to a 35-28 victory in his previous matchup with the Dolphins. While there may not be quite as many points in this rematch due to the weather, Jackson has actually been excellent in weather games since the bad footing makes it even harder on defenses to bring him down. Look for him to go off for another monster performance as he tries to produce over 21 DKFP for the fifth-straight sim. No one on this slate comes close to matching his consistency or his ceiling, so pay up for him if the rest of your roster allows.

Other Option — Mitchell Trubisky ($6,800)

Value

Jared Goff, Los Angeles Rams at Cleveland Browns, $6,400 — Goff just threw for 400 yards, three touchdowns and 30 DKFP against the Dolphins in his most recent sim, so the potential is there for him to come close to Jackson’s production if he has one of his better games. He has been inconsistent overall in Madden 21 but has thrown multiple touchdown passes in three straight contests with over 15 DKFP in six of his past eight games. In his previous matchup with the Browns, he threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns to finish with 17.28 DKFP. The Browns’ secondary has given up plenty of big plays in Madden 21, and the matchup puts Goff in a place to be the best pivot away from Jackson amongst the cheap QBs on this slate. All the affordable QBs are extremely volatile, especially in comparison to Jackson.

Other Options — Cam Newton ($6,500), Tua Tagovailoa ($5,500)

Running Back

Stud

Matt Breida, Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens, $6,300 — Breida is the only RB1 on this slate who is also his team’s third-down back, which sets him up to be the busiest back by a significant margin. Breida has averaged 3.3 catches for 28.1 receiving yards in addition to his 55.4 rushing yards per sim. He has piled up 30 touchdowns in his 56 contests in Madden 21, including five touchdowns in his past seven sims and has averaged 14.6 DKFP over that stretch. In his first matchup with the Ravens, Breida ran for 77 yards and a touchdown while catching four passes for 14 more yards and another score to total 25.1 DKFP. While he isn’t a reliable play compared to other elite RBs, he’s by far the lowest-risk option on this slate full of timeshares.

Other Option — Darrell Henderson Jr. ($6,000)

Value

James White, New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears, $4,800 — White is still a free agent without a destination as of the writing of this post, but he’ll continue to work as the Patriots’ third-down back in this matchup with the Bears. Chicago’s defense has been beatable by RBs, especially as pass catchers, which happens to be White’s specialty. In the first meeting of these two teams, White caught eight passes for 47 yards and finished with 13.8 DKFP in that contest. He has multiple catches in four straight sims and in 13 of his past 14. In those 14 games, he has hit for over 8.0 DKFP in eight contests and averaged 3.6 receptions per contest. He should be involved enough as a pass catcher to be a value play, especially if the Patriots have to focus on shorter passes due to the weather in virtual Foxborough.

Other Options — Kareem Hunt ($5,100), J.K. Dobbins ($4,200)

Wide Receiver

Stud

Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams at Cleveland Browns, $6,800 — Another unusual wrinkle on this slate is that there aren’t any elite WRs on the board, and the most expensive play is actually a WR2 in Bobby Trees. Woods has at least five catches in four straight sims and in seven of his past nine. He has averaged 4.7 catches for 60.8 yards per sim for the Rams and has scored 22 touchdowns. Seventeen of those 22 scores have come on the road, where he is averaging 15.5 DKFP compared to 11.6 DKFP at home. He should be able to find space and produce even in the snow against a struggling Browns secondary.

Other Options — Cooper Kupp ($6,000), Julian Edelman ($5,400)

Value

Marquise Brown, Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins, $4,800 — Brown has been very boom-or-bust in these sims, but he had a big game against Miami in the teams’ first meeting, producing 29.7 DKFP on five catches for 157 yards and a touchdown. Brown doesn’t get the volume of many WR1s, but his speed makes him a tough matchup and constant big-play threat. With so few consistent producers in play, it’s worth giving Hollywood a look since he does deliver a very high ceiling when he goes off.

Ted Ginn Jr., Chicago Bears at New England Patriots, $3,900 — Ginn could find himself in a good matchup against the Patriots as long as he avoids Superstar X-factor Stephon Gilmore, who will likely focus his coverage on Allen Robinson II ($5,100). Ginn has shown he can still put up big games in Madden 21, thriving across from Robinson as the Bears’ WR2. Ginn caught three passes for 43 yards in his first matchup with the Patriots and has at least 9.0 DKFP in three of his past five contests. Overall, he is averaging 2.5 catches for 35 yards per sim and has scored 17 touchdowns in his 50 Madden 21 appearances.

Other Options — N’Keal Harry ($5,300), Rashard Higgins ($3,700), Jakeem Grant ($3,300)

Tight End

Stud

Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins vs. Baltimore Ravens, $5,200 — In weather games with longer passes limited by the elements, TEs tend to be even more involved than they normally are. Gesicki has been one of the favorite targets of rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa ($5,500) in these sims regardless of conditions, averaging 4.4 catches for 49.4 yards per game. He has also found the end zone 20 times in those 56 sims, including five times in his six most recent games. Gesicki has at least three catches in each of those six sims and has averaged 16.0 DKFP per contest over that stretch. He should be in a spot to keep producing big points due to his expanded workload in the rain against the Ravens.

Other Option — Devin Asiasi ($5,600)

Value

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams at Cleveland Browns, $4,300 — Higbee hasn’t been quite as productive as the top two TE options on the slate, but he has produced an average of over 10 DKFP per sim. He has also exceeded 10 DKFP in seven of his past 13 sims and had 12.7 DKFP with a touchdown in his first Madden 21 matchup with the Browns, who have been bad against TEs throughout these sims. In all his Madden 21 contests, Higbee has been boom-or-bust, but he has actually been more consistent lately with at least three catches in 10 of his past 11 contests,

Other Option — Mark Andrews ($4,400)

DST

Stud

Patriots DST vs. Chicago Bears, $3,100 — The Patriots’ defense should be in a great spot in the snow against turnover-prone Mitchell Trubisky ($6,800), who has 36 turnovers in 55 sims. One of his interceptions came in his previous game against the Patriots, a sim in which New New England totaled 3.0 DKFP. That was one of the 61 takeaways the Patriots have compiled in 57 contests to go with 95 sacks and 12 defensive touchdowns. New England is averaging over a full point more than any other defense on the slate and is also in one of the most attractive matchups.

Value

Rams DST at Cleveland Browns, $2,800 — The Rams’ defense is built around a pair of Superstar X-factors in Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. While the unit has typically held opponents in check, for the most part, they have only forced 24 turnovers and scored one defensive touchdown in 53 sims. The Rams piled up four sacks in their most recent sim and finished with 7.0 DKFP against the Dolphins, so they have that kind of upside, especially in a favorable against with the Browns in the snow.
