After a two-year wait, the madness is finally back. They made us wait an extra day for a 16-game slate to start, but I think we’ll all take it. After having the week to thoroughly go over the board, here are my best bets for Saturday’s card on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Oral Roberts is the underdog story of Round 1, and we’re boosting them to +500 to win! See the DraftKings Sportsbook Promos page for more details!
We’re going to fade a couple of the teams that dropped out of conference tournament play due to COVID issues on Saturday, but that’s just a helpful piece of the cap on these games. Eastern Washington is a really good team, and should be able to keep this in single-digits against a Jayhawks squad clearly in a down year. The Eagles can ball, coming in winners of nine of their last 10 with an 8-2 ATS record in those games — covering some big numbers along the way. They started the season with some road tests in the Pac-12, losing by three points and covering against both Washington State and Arizona. I like the Eagles to push Kansas here.

Maryland has been two completely different teams at times this season, making it impossible to know which one will shows this weekend. I’ll back a UConn squad that got hot down the stretch in Big East play, despite losing a close one in the conference tournament. The Huskies will have the best player on the floor in James Bouknight, and they have the size to take it to Maryland in the paint. UConn finished 16-6 ATS this season, and a combined 8-4 away from home. I grabbed this one at -2 when it opened, but would play it up to -3 at the most.

Ohio vs. Virginia: OH +7 (-110)
Ohio benefits from UVA dropping out of the ACC tournament due to a player testing positive for COVID. We know Virginia will be shorthanded for this one, and they’ll only be in Indy for a day prior to tip. That’s great, and helps make our case here, but give the Bobcats an outright chance regardless. Ohio is on a 9-1 run, going 9-1 ATS along the way. They have experience going against major programs this season, losing to one-seed Illinois by just two points. The Bobcats will also have the best player on the floor in Jason Preston — a game-changing PG who has the ability to do a ton of damage. I’m putting a sprinkle on the moneyline, but think taking the points might be the strongest play of the day on Saturday.
