Oregon State vs. Houston: OSU +8 (-110)

I stayed up on Saturday night awaiting this line and was able to grab Oregon State +8.5 and +300 on the moneyline. The Beavers are on an insane run, winning six in a row through the PAC-12 Tournament and this tournament — all as 5.5 to 8.5-point underdogs. After a dreadful start to the year, this team has found itself and is thriving in the underdog role. The Beavers are 17-4 ATS as an underdog this season and on a 13-1 ATS run overall. The Beavers are a balanced roster that can hurt you in different ways, and they have the size to compete with a team like Houston. This team has kept its cool through each step along the way, and I expect them to be ready for the Cougars. I’ll take the Beavers outright, but absolutely want the eight points in this spot.

UCLA vs. Michigan: MICH -6.5 (-113)

UCLA is on a heck of a run — one of those teams from the First Four always completely shocks us. However, without taking too much credit away from the Bruins, their road, in terms terms of opponents, hasn’t been all that tough — which is saying a lot, considering they played an extra game. Alabama was really the first stiff competition UCLA faced, and you can make the argument the Tide simply beat themselves; they went 11-for-25 from the free throw line, missing a pair to win the game in regulation.

A lot of people were down on Michigan coming into the tournament, particularly with Isaiah Livers ruled out with a broken foot, but they’ve checked each box along the way and really turned heads after their blowout victory over FSU as slight favorites. The Seminoles use their size and athleticism to beat up on teams, and yet this Michigan squad was able to score their first 30 points of the second half from in the paint. Michigan connected on just 3-of-11 from downtown in the win over FSU, but shot 26-of-48 (54.2%) from two-point range, further highlighting their dominance in the paint.

I’ll tip my hat to the Bruins here, but give me the Wolverines to roll into the Final Four. Still too much talent and size against a smaller team, and UCLA might be due for some shooting regression.
