Happy Tuesday! Is there anything better than a big MLB slate to keep the momentum of the week going? I see so much value everywhere on this card, and it’s tough to narrow it down to just a few plays. With that in mind, here are my favorite MLB bets to consider on DraftKings Sportsbook.
It’s your resident Cubs fader checking in again. Look, I realize the Cubs are going to win eventually, but right now this is too good of a wave to not keep riding. Chicago ranks dead last with a 48 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers so far this season, and even that number may be a bit generous to its offense. Kris Bryant and the occasional Javy Baez home run have mostly been the extent of the offense, which has led even the worst offenses to victory over the Cubs given how easy the ask is of the offense. Similar to Monday, the Brewers are throwing a stud in Brandon Woodruff, who enters with a superb 19.2% hard-hit rate so far this year. I simply can’t recommend not fading the Cubs again at this price.

Is this for real? Give me a break. The only thing pointing to a pitcher’s duel between Lucas Giolito and Shane Bieber is the name value of each. Bieber has shown nothing special so far this year with a pedestrian 3.65 ERA, which is backed up by a 3.70 expected ERA. Giolito’s been a bit better at limiting hard contact, but still has a concerning .411 xwOBA on contact. I’m a bit more bullish on Giolito in the early going because his strikeouts are up and his walks are down, but the Indians have proven themselves to be a capable offense so far. At the very least, both of these guys should give up some runs. This is such a wildly low total, and I don’t think it’s deserved.
The Yankees were stymied by tonight’s pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu on Opening Day, and I don’t see that as much of a fluke. For as good as its offense was, New York ranked just 19th in the league against lefties with a 97 wRC+ last season, pointing to some very real issues. This offense is in a rut — I mean, when Rougned Odor is your most reliable bat for contact, you are really hurting — and the matchup with a solid left-hander couldn’t be worse. On the other hand, Jameson Taillon looked just fine against the Orioles in his first start for the Yankees, and he has a red-hot bullpen behind him. I think this total is far too high.
